Publication number: 20020035954Abstract: With a first thread being held at its tail end, a first loop is made. The first thread is passed through the first loop and a second loop is made thereinto. A beginning end of a second thread is inserted into the second loop, and the second loop is pulled into the first loop, and the beginning end of the second thread is tied in the first loop of the first thread.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2001Publication date: March 28, 2002Applicant: BROTHER KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Hiroshi Kitazawa

Patent number: 6216620Abstract: An apparatus for high speed attachment of a cord to a piece of receiving material is characterized by one or more pins which engage the cord, pierce the receiving material and draw the cord through the receiving material from the first side to a second side thereof so that open loops are formed in the cord on the second side of the receiving material. The pins may be implemented as a push pin and spreader pin pairs movably mounted relative to each other and each of which are adapted to grasp the cord and penetrate the receiving material. The loop(s) are formed as the push pin and spreader pin move relative to each other. The apparatus further comprises a floating shuttle, not attached to the frame of the apparatus but supported by a series of gear assemblies. The pins move relative to the shuttle in a single direction causing the shuttle to engage an end portion of the cord, drawing the cord through the open loops so as to complete the lacing stitch of the cord through the receiving material.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Daniel R. Patent number: 5887533Abstract: A method is disclosed where a knot is formed in chain-stitching, and a first loop formed by a stitch to an article to be sewn, two stitches ahead of a final stitch, is drawn through a second loop which is formed by a stitch one stitch ahead of the final stitch, whereby a knot where the first loop is fastened by the second loop is formed, such that a third loop is inserted through the second loop and is then cut.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Assignee: Juki CorporationInventors: Takashi Tsukioka, Takayuki Shiina, Tadayoshi Minagawa, Yoh Oda

Patent number: 5657712Abstract: A method for attaching a tag to a tea bag, where the bag and the tag both have at least one border with reduced thickness, includes the following steps: hooking of a first end or leader of the thread by an eye of a needle and running the thread into the border through to the opposite side of the border so as to make a loop in the thread; widening the loop in such a way as to form an aperture through which the thread can be inserted; inserting the leader into the aperture in the loop and releasing the thread from the needle, the thread being pulled in such a way as to tighten the resulting knot.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1995Date of Patent: August 19, 1997Assignee: I.M.A. Industria Macchine Automatiche S.p.A.Inventor: Andrea Romagnoli

Patent number: 5054407Abstract: A presser foot for use in sewing an elongate ribbon-like material to a fabric sheet includes a sole and an adjustable ribbon/sequin guide assembly through which the ribbon-like material slidably passes. The ribbon/sequin guide assembly includes a tubular guide portion which slidably envelopes a portion of the ribbon-like material, and defines, in connection with the sole, a needle dropping gap through which the needle of a sewing machine penetrates the fabric to sew the ribbon-like material thereto. The ribbon/sequin guide assembly is laterally movable, as a unit, by the positioning of a nut on a threaded shank which is fixed relative to the sole. Extending upwardly from the tubular guide portion of the ribbon/sequin guide assembly is a U-shaped yoke which is slidably received onto the threaded shank. A nut, which is threaded onto the shank, is positioned within the yoke to move the ribbon/sequin guide assembly laterally as the nut is rotated about the shank.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Inventor: Clare J. Patent number: 4188894Abstract: In rooting hair or similar substances on the surface of a material such as a woven or knitted fabric or a yarn or an elastic material by means of a sewing machine hooked needle, in the manufacture of wigs, false eyelash or long pile fabrics, the hooked needle goes through the material, goes down, hooks hair for rooting, and goes up again above the upper part of the material. In this case, the hooked needle goes up and down simultaneously with its reciprocating movement in a direction at right angles to the direction of the material movement, that is, in a transverse direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1976Date of Patent: February 19, 1980Assignee: Kanegafuchi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshitsugu Matsumura
