The air suction device is comprised of:(a) an air device externally provided for generating reduced pressure;(b) an air suction pipe connected to the external air device; and(c) an air path leading to a front portion of the air suction pipe.The air path is comprised of a pair of leaf springs to horizontally hold a needle, and upper and lower elastic members which run parallel between the pair of leaf springs. To effectively direct air into the needle eye, an air-tight environment is provided around the needle eye: (1) air entry above and beneath the needle eye is prevented by the body of the needle; (2) air entry from both sides of the needle is prevented by the pair of leaf springs that hold the needle; and (3) air inflow behind the needle is prevented by rear-positioned elastic members which tightly fit the needle.

Abstract: An automatic needle threader, which uses compressed air to thread the needles of sewing machines, has means for imparting a rotational or swirling motion to the air which smooths out the frayed ends of the thread for easier and more positive threading. The compressed air is directed into an air chamber in which a spiral shaped baffle is mounted to impart the swirling motion. The threader can be permanently mounted on a sewing machine with a hinge connection allowing the threader to be moved out of position when not in use and to be moved into position so that the exiting end of the air chamber is located adjacent and opposite the eye of the needle. Alternatively, the threader may be removably mounted to a sewing machine using straps connected to the hinge.

When the lever is turned, the positioning cam is turned to determine the vertical position of the threading bar selectively and, at the same time, a radius changing lever is turned to change the radius of turning of the threading hook member.

The moving board thus lowers and contacts the actuating rod. The actuating rod in turn lowers, thereby lowering and further rotating the threading rod. The threading hook enters the needle eye. The needle is thus threaded. The moving board is provided separately from the actuating rod. When the drive source or the transmission breaks, the actuating rod can be lowered separately from the moving board. Specifically, without driving the drive source, the actuating rod can manually be lowered, so that the threading rod can lower and rotate, and the threading hook is inserted into the needle eye. Since the needle can thus manually be threaded, the position adjustment in the assembling the threading apparatus is facilitated.

Abstract: A sewing machine for automatic thread taking-up and threading comprising a guide groove for guiding a needle thread to a threading preparatory position in the vicinity of a needle bar via a thread taking-up preparatory position intersecting a thread take-up moving area, a sewing machine motor driver for extracting the needle thread along the thread take-up moving area and for instructing a thread take-up to catch the needle thread, a pulse motor driver for threading the needle thread to an eye of a needle, a threading switch for generating signals, and an electronic control circuit for controlling the pulse motor driver and the sewing machine driver at prescribed timings in response to the signals from the threading switch. In the sewing machine, an operator has only to prepare a needle thread along the guide groove and push the threading switch.
