  • Patent number: 10688219
Abstract: Described are embodiments of a multilaminate or multiple layer implantable surgical graft comprising remodelable collagenous sheet material, the graft including one or more interweaving members to stitch together the graft to help prevent the layers from delaminating or separating during handling and the initial stages of remodeling. The interweaving members may comprise lines of suture, thread, individual stitches, strips of material, etc. that are woven through the layers of biomaterial in a desired pattern. In one embodiment, the interweaving members comprise a pharmacologically active substance, such as a drug, growth factors, etc. to elicit a desired biological response in the host tissue. In another embodiment, the graft further comprises a reinforcing material, such as a synthetic mesh, within the layers of remodelable biomaterial and stitched together by one or more interweaving members.

  • Patent number: 6904853
Abstract: A take-up cam phase adjustment structure of looper thread take-up apparatus of a sewing machine includes a rotary shaft rotatablly mounted in the sewing machine. A thread-guiding plate mounted on the housing for correspondingly pressing a stitching thread against the rim of the take-up cam. A transmission mechanism connected between the lower driving shaft and the rotary shaft. The transmission mechanism includes a driven wheel rotatablly mounted on the rotary shaft. The take-up cam phase adjustment structure includes a locking member for locking the driven wheel on the rotary shaft and a turning section disposed at one end of the rotary shaft. After the second locking member is unscrewed and loosened, by means of rotating the turning section, the relative radial positions between the take-up cam and the lower driving shaft is drivingly adjustable.

  • Patent number: 6668739
Abstract: A sewing machine includes a first and a second lower rotary shafts coaxially coupled with each other by a shaft and disposed in a lower housing of the sewing machine. A looper thread take-up cam includes a first and a second take-up cam plates slidably key-fitted on the second lower rotary shaft. A slide interval is defined between the take-up structure and the shaft coupler, whereby the second cam plate can slide along the second lower rotary shaft to the slide interval and separate from the first cam plate for easily clearing up the tangling thread. A guide plate of the take-up structure is movably connected with a bracket of the lower housing, whereby by means of changing the position of the guide plate relative to the second lower rotary shaft, the take-up timing can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6213039
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting thread breakage in a sewing machine. The sewing machine comprises a looper reciprocating laterally across a leading end of a needle, a thread-controlling cam fixed on a rotary shaft interlocked with the reciprocal motion of the looper and varying in the extent of projection from the thread take-up stand along with rotation of the shaft, and thread guides disposed on the thread take-up stand at both sides of the thread-controlling cam. Said thread guides have thread eyelets for inserting the looper thread. Other thread guides having thread pass eyelets for inserting the looper thread are fixed and disposed on the looper thread route between the thread-controlling cam and the looper. A thread breakage-detecting member detects presence or absence of vibration of looper thread inserted in the thread pass eyelets of other thread guides between the other thread guides.

  • Patent number: 5555830
Abstract: A rotary thread take-up lever for acting on an upper thread in a sewing machine, comprising: a base portion which is continuously rotatable around a predetermined axis in one direction; and an arm extending outwardly from the base portion with respect to the axis, the arm including a front edge facing in the direction of rotation of the thread take-up lever and a rear edge facing in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the thread take-up lever. The front edge has a thread holding point, wherein the upper thread being lifted by the thread take-up lever is slid on the front edge. The rear edge has a thread holding point, wherein the upper thread being supplied from the thread take-up lever is slid on the rear edge. When the upper thread is supplied maximumly, the upper thread is held by the thread holding points of the front and rear edges, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4917033
Abstract: A cam shaft of a rotary looper thread take-up is extended short of a thread guide and thus provides a free space there-between. A thread introduced from the tip-end-side of the cam shaft is prevented from being entangled into the cam shaft when the looper thread becomes broken. In a preferred embodiment, three slit-like guides placed in parallel and two cams placed there-between are effective to introduce the looper thread into the rotary looper thread take-up by a simple operation without requiring an operator to visually align the thread to pass through an eyelet.

  • Patent number: 4821661
Abstract: A thread control device for the looper thread of a chain stitch sewing machine having a rotating thread take-up disc and a cover plate containing a slot for the thread take-up disc. To prevent broken thread being wound up on a main shaft, a tube carrying a pressure medium, such as a stream of air, is disposed between the thread take-up disc and a looper eye. Tension is thereby mantained in the looper thread even if the thread breaks downstream of the thread take-up disc.

  • Patent number: 4373457
Abstract: A thread feed arrangement particularly suitable for use in an embroidery machine for feeding and tightening a thread includes a drive mechanism for rotating a thread roller in the machine about its axis so as to tighten the thread a desired amount after the thread is formed into a stitch or loop. The drive mechanism is controlled by a control device in corresponding relationship with the formation of the stitch or loop, such as by a punched card control system which controls the entire operation of the machine.
