Patent number: 6817307Abstract: Trim with decorative double lipped fastening structure comprising a first set of threads folded near a midpoint and knotted together providing a knot near a midpoint of the threads with a fringe end and a folded end on opposite sides of the knot. A second set of threads adjacent the first set of threads is similarly folded and knotted. A lip is provided by a cross stitching connecting the folded ends of the first and second set of threads side by side. A second lip of thread having a plurality of folds folded to length equal to the length of the folded ends of the first and second set of threads are held together by a cross stitching. An end of the second lip is fastened adjacent the first and second knots by a cross stitching providing a bottom of a fastening channel of uniform depth.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2002Date of Patent: November 16, 2004Assignee: Brimar, Inc.Inventor: Martin Gerster

Patent number: 5389421Abstract: A Wilton-type carpet and methods of making integral fringes on it, of affixing a decorative border around the periphery of the carpet and of inlaying decorative strands within the design of the carpet. The method creates integral fringes by the one way looming of the face yarns and by the severance of two transverse backing strands. The backing is undone while simultaneously releasing face yarns to act as the fringes. The method also provides a shelf at the fringe/carpet face interface allowing for a decorative trim to be affixed thereto. Another aspect of the method entails the complete removal of face yarns at both left and right sides to result in a shelf along the left and right sides to which decorative trim can be affixed. The face yarns within the carpet face can be removed in both the longitudinal and transverse directions to inlay decorative yarn therein.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1992Date of Patent: February 14, 1995Inventor: Philip Pearlman

Patent number: 4665851Abstract: A composite fabric adapted to the manufacture of garments and the like is made by spreading a given length of decorative fabric in a given spreading direction to form a plurality of layers of spread decorative fabric each lying in horizontal plane, cutting the layers of decorative fabric in a plurality of vertical cutting planes each parallel to the spreading direction to form a plurality of narrow strips of spread fabric each having the same given length, and slitting opposite sides of each of the narrow strips of spread fabric in a plurality of slitting planes each normal to the spreading direction to form a plurality of center webs respectively extending the length of the strips and each bordered by a plurality of fringes, each of the fringes having a length less than one-half the width of the respective strips and extending in a direction parallel to the slitting planes. The strips are unlayered with the fringes formed thereon, and each of the unlayered strips is quilted to a base fabric.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1986Date of Patent: May 19, 1987Inventor: Paula J. Patent number: 4510975Abstract: This invention relates to a woven textile product, such as a mat, and a method for manufacturing said product. The product is in the center provided with a layer which is formed by supporting warp threads and on both sides of which are provided weft threads which are bound to each other by means of binding warp threads crossing the layer of supporting warp threads. The product can in a simple manner be provided with fringes by dividing the binding or supporting warp threads in the edge area of the product into two groups, by means of which two adjoining edge strips are formed between which the warp threads not used in the edge strips project as fringes.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1983Date of Patent: April 16, 1985Inventor: Heimo K. Patent number: 4250822Abstract: A novel low bulk seam is disclosed for use in paper making machine fabrics, such as dryer felts. The seam is particularly adapted for use with multi-filament yarns which comprise multi-ply fabrics. A novel method for producing this seam is disclosed which comprises the insertion of a seaming coil, the removal of picks in adjacent fabric areas, the folding and sewing of such areas, the creation of a warp fringe, the weaving back of portions of that fringe into the fabric body, and the application of various fasteners including adhesive and sewing to create a unique, reliable seam providing substantially uniform thickness and air permeability across the full fabric width. A durable, reliable, non-marking seam is accordingly provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1979Date of Patent: February 17, 1981Assignee: Asten Group, Inc.Inventor: Gisela Fickers
