  • Patent number: 9441319
Abstract: An embroidery data generating device has a hole data acquisition portion, an embroidery data acquisition portion, a polygon acquisition portion, a line segment generating portion and a bridge data generating portion. The hole data acquisition portion acquires hole data to form a hole in a sewing workpiece. The embroidery data acquisition portion acquires embroidery data corresponding to an embroidery pattern that is arranged on the inside of the hole. The polygon acquisition portion acquires a minimum polygon that encompasses the embroidery pattern, based on the acquired embroidery data. The line segment generating portion generates a line segment that joins the polygon and a peripheral edge portion of the hole. The bridge data generating portion generates bridge data to form bridge stitches between the embroidery pattern and the peripheral edge portion of the hole, based on the generated line segments.

  • Patent number: 9309614
Abstract: An embroidery sewing appliqué technique. A tacking stitch is produced and positioned inside a column of a fabric that holds down the fabric on top of a base or host material, such as a garment. Running parallel to the tacking stitch, a column or satin stitch runs near and to the outside of the tacking stitch. The column or satin stitch has a higher density than that utilized in normal embroidery applications. The higher density satin stitch varies with needle size and thread size. The satin stitch cuts the fabric along the outer edge of the fabric. The tack stitch on the inside of the satin stitch locks the fabric down therefore not allowing the inner edge of the satin to be lifted away from the garment by virtue of the running tack stitch and without a separate cutting step.

  • Patent number: 4009673
Abstract: A method for making a buttonhole in a piece of material using a zigzag stitch sewing machine wherein the lips of the buttonhole are formed by the alternate stitching of opposite fractions of the desired length of the two lips, the stitching always being carried out in the same direction, and this process being repeated until the desired length is achieved. The material is moved in the reverse direction in the period between the finishing of one fraction of two opposite fractions and the starting of the other. The method is almost entirely automatic, all movements being regulated by interchangeable cams on the machine, and operator supervision is minimal.
