Abstract: An electronic pattern stitch sewing machine is disclosed in which stitch control letter pattern data is stored to produce letters in a laterally or vertically readable first orientation and in which stitch coordinate mode changing data is stored to modify the letter pattern data to change the stitch coordinates of the letter patterns thereby orienting the letters in a direction perpendicular to said first orientation.

Abstract: A stitch condition setting device for an electronically controlled sewing machine that forms stitch patterns and has a reciprocating needle, a fabric feed and an electronic memory to store stitch control signals, the stitch condition setting device having an apparatus for separately designating a change in a needle amplitude amount and a fabric feed amount in accordance with a selected stitch pattern, an apparatus for switching the designating apparatus between designating the change in needle amplitude amount and designating the change in fabric feed amount; and an apparatus responsive to the designating apparatus and the switching apparatus for changing the needle amplitude amount and the fabric feed amount in accordance with the selected stitch pattern.

Abstract: An electronic sewing machine has an input selector for the adjustment of input data to the machine. As a complement to the pattern selecting buttons, a cloth meter is provided and positioned at or on the machine. The button and meter provide data of a specific seam selection to the electronic systems on the machine. The cloth meter is used for making a selection of a seam from a series of seams which can be selected by the buttons. When the operator pushes a button, signals are composed to a seam selection code which is fed to a start address memory.

Abstract: Desired letters or other patterns to be drawn are traced with a finger on a pattern input part provided in a sewing machine frame, and patterns are selected by recognizing said letters or other patterns. The machine operator only inputs by sensitively tracing the said letter or other pattern without requiring observations to the input part.

Abstract: A sewing machine has an electronic control for the production of at least one stitch pattern consisting of a plurality of different single stitches, with a read-and-write memory RAM for storing in memory at least the single stitches of the stitch pattern and with a feed mechanism whose feed adjustment occurs by a step motor controlled in accordance with the stored data of the read-and-write memory within the inactive phase of the feed mechanism. To carry out a feed variation exceeding the maximum number of steps of the step motor between two predetermined sewing stitches, the control unit contains a comparator which compares the magnitude of the displacement amount of the step motor before the next displacing movement is carried out with a given maximum displacement amount, in order to prevent a stitch formation between the point of insertion of the previous stitch and the desired point of insertion of the next following stitch when the maximum displacement amount is exceded.

Abstract: This invention provides a pattern selecting device of an electronic control sewing machine which stores stitching pattern data in a memory device. A plurality of indicating windows are arranged in columns and rows at a front part of the sewing machine. The indications of the patterns are made selectively visible according to a stitching pattern group of each of plural modes, in response to the operation of a mode switching member, and stitching patterns in response to the pattern indications in the column or the row are successively selected, and the selected patterns are specifically indicated by illumination.

Abstract: An electronic sewing machine is operated to produce a stitch pattern or a sequence of plural stitch patterns, in response to corresponding stitch control data, which are stored in an electronic memory element of the sewing machine and read out in response to desired manual operation of a pattern selection device provided therein. The pattern selection device includes an operation panel arranged along a laterally extending bracket arm of the machine housing, on which a plurality of sheet switches for selecting alphabet and symbol patterns in reference to their representations shown on the sheet switches are neatly and efficiently arranged. Abstract: In stitching operation with an electronic sewing machine storing a plurality of stitch control data, a fabric feeding amount for a specific pattern composed of densely arranged zigzag stitches is automatically controlled in a selective one of normal mode and alternate mode. The fabric feeding amount is usually controlled in the normal mode whereby a fabric feeding amount of a predetermined value or a manually selected value is constantly applied to every stitch of the pattern. The normal feed control mode is switched to the alternate feed control mode when the operator selects a fabric feeding amount smaller than a predetermined critical value, in which case the selected pattern composed of densely arranged zigzag stitches is produced with the fabric being fed in an amount double the selected value each time an alternate one of the zigzag stitches is produced.

Abstract: A pattern indication arrangement for a pattern selecting device, that is operated by finger-pushing, of a sewing machine, is comprised of a plurality of shorter rectangular pattern indicators; a plurality of longer rectangular pattern indicators, and located on each indicator for actuating the indicators when pushed. Each element is projected from each of the indicators, the shorter rectangular pattern indicators and the longer rectangular pattern indicators are arranged adjacent to each other in longitudinal and transverse directions in alignment with each other in the alternate rows.

Abstract: A pattern selecting device for a sewing machine of the type having a housing, a panel mounted on the housing for indicating a number of pattern indicia to be selected by the sewing machine operator, and an electronic memory storing a number of stitch control data for producing the stitches in accordance to the pattern indicia. The panel is provided with a first portion carrying a first group of pattern indicia and a second portion for indicating a second group of pattern indicia and a third group of pattern indicia. The pattern selecting device includes two screening plates mounted on the second portion. Both plates are movable relative to the second and third groups of indicia in the second section to selectively hide one of the second and third groups of indicia and visualize the other of the second and third groups of indicia or to hide both the second and third groups of indicia.

Abstract: A control circuit is provided in an electronic sewing machine wherein a specific stitch pattern is selected from a plurality of stitch patterns stored in an electronic memory, by selection of a corresponding pattern number which is then indicated at a digital indicator arranged on a front panel of the machine housing. A possible incomplete or incorrect selection of a pattern number will cause the selected pattern number indicated at the digital indicator to blink, thus giving a cautionary notice to the machine operator and, at the same time, will cause the sewing machine to stop from further stitching operation.
