Stoppers And Covers Patents (Class 114/180)
  • Patent number: 10060508
Abstract: A invention relates to a chain shackle for fastening a hoist chain of a chain hoist to a hoisting member or the chain hoist. The chain shackle includes two identical shackle halves installable against each other to work together in such a manner that they form between them a first space for one chain loop or chain loop half of the hoist chain to lock it against the hoisting direction or force. The first space is open in a first direction in the longitudinal direction of the chain shackle. A second space is connected to the first space and intended for a second hoist chain loop that is coupled with the first chain loop or is to be coupled with a chain loop half. The second space is open in both longitudinal directions of the hoist chain.

  • Patent number: 9908753
Abstract: A chain hoist (10) having an improved chain guide (12) for a link chain (14). The chain guide (12) has a channel (36) with a cross-shaped cross section, through which the link chain (14) extends. An end surface (26) of the chain guide (12) extends away from a mouth opening (28) of the channel (36). The channel (36) establishes a through-passage direction (D) which widens in the direction of the end surface (26), and a protrusion (30) is formed on the end surface (26) around the mouth opening (28) of the channel (36).

  • Patent number: 8069805
Abstract: A mooring chain connector assembly for a floating device), such as for example a FPSO vessel or a floating offshore structure, is described, the connector assembly comprising a chain connector having a first pivot axis and a coupler for coupling a mooring chain to the chain connector. The assembly further comprises a channel assembly attached to the floating device. The channel assembly have an upper end and a lower end, wherein mooring chain locking device is provided at the upper end of the channel assembly. The channel assembly extends in the floating device from its bottom side to a higher level in the floating device which can be located above sea surface. A bearing location for the first pivot axis of the chain connector is provided at the lower end of the channel assembly.

  • Patent number: 7325508
Abstract: A support assembly for a mooring line of a floating vessel comprises a trunnion block which is pivotally supported on the vessel and a stopper block to which the mooring line is releasably secured. One of the trunnion block and the stopper block comprises a convex surface and the other of the trunnion block and the stopper block comprises a concave surface. In operation, the convex surface engages the concave surface to thereby pivotally support the stopper block on the trunnion block.

  • Patent number: 7000556
Abstract: A sealing device (1) and method for sealing between a chain (2) and a chain pipe (3), said chain for example being an anchor chain on a marine offshore platform or on a ship, and said chain pipe (3) leading for example to a chain locker for onboard storage of the chain in said platform or ship. The sealing device (1) comprises at least two opposing cover lids (7) positioned at the mouth (8) of the chain pipe (3) or an extension collar (7) thereof. The cover lids (7) are movably arranged from an open position into a closed position in which the cover lids (7) abut each other and seal the chain pipe (3) from water intrusion by sealingly engaging a chain link (10) of the chain. Furthermore, the cover lids (7) are provided—in mutual abutment sides (15) thereof—with one or more recesses (16) shaped in conformity with the contacting outer periphery (17) of said chain link (10).

  • Patent number: 5517937
Abstract: A turret that is rotatably mounted on a vessel and connected to risers extending down to sea floor wells, is constructed so the turret is of moderate diameter to enable the use of a moderate size bearing and moderate weight turret, while providing room around the terminations of the upper ends of the risers. The risers (46A, 46G, FIG. 3 ) extend through tubes (62, 70, 72) which are oriented at an angle to the turret axis (22), so the lower ends of the tubes lie on large diameter circles to be considerably spaced apart, while the upper ends of the tubes are closer together to fit within the inside of the moderate sized bearing (60). The upper ends of the risers may be terminated at a plurality of different levels (90, 92, 94) within the turret to provide room around each termination.

  • Patent number: 4679800
Abstract: A hawser chain assembly and method for installation of its sealing element is disclosed. The assembly includes a housing adapted for connection in series with a hawser pipe of a marine vessel such as a semi-submersible drilling rig. The housing may be moved to an open position for installation or replacement of the sealing element, and a closed position to longitudinally surround and secure the sealing element. The sealing element has at least two semi-cylindrical elastomeric parts, each of which is adapted for placement partially about the hawser chain when the housing is in the open position. Each semi-cylindrical part has at least one inflatable bladder. A manifold is provided by which fluid pressure may be introduced to the bladders of the sealing element causing them to expand. The sealing element is restricted on its outer diameter by the closed housing causing the elastomeric material to move inwardly forming a sealing engagement with the chain.

  • Patent number: 4567840
Abstract: A closure for a chain entry aperture in which two or more seal blocks of a suitable elastomeric material are slidable between a position in which the aperture is open, and a position in which the seal blocks cooperate to close the aperture and seal around a chain extending through the aperture. Contact surfaces of the seal blocks are shaped to accommodate the chain passing through the aperture when the seal blocks are in the closed position.
