Abstract: An offshore well test platform system is positionable above one or more underwater wells and comprises a submerged buoy restrained below the surface of the water by a plurality of laterally extending, tensioned cables, a platform structure removably connected to a submerged buoy with an upper portion that extends above the surface of the water, and a flexible riser that connects the well to a well test platform deck above the surface of the water.
Abstract: A hydraulic tensioning device for tensioning the rigging of a sailing vessel comprises first, second and third components which are telescopical with respect to one another. A cylinder of the first component and a piston of the second component form a first chamber, and a cylinder of the second component and a piston of the third component form a second chamber, the two chambers being in fluid flow communication with one another via a passage. The first component is connected to one part of the rigging, and the second component to another part of the rigging. The rigging is tensioned by applying tension to a rope or wire connected to the third component. In another embodiment the first component is mounted for guided displacement along a rail, the second and third components each being connected by a rope or wire to a cam cleat to limit longitudinal displacement.
Abstract: For a sailboat, a constant force spring reel is used to balance the force in a control line used to establish the angle of the sail with respect to the boat. The spring exerts an essentially constant force on the control line whereby the sail is allowed to move to leeward or windward in response to wind changes to maintain an essentially constant sail force on, and angle of heel of, the boat.
Abstract: A weight arrestor for attachment to downriggers; the weight arrestor has an elongated coiled spring surrounding a downrigger cable. The spring radially flexes under stress exerted by the cable and slides up and down on the cable. The spring is adjustably coupled to a fastener. A cord is desirably fastened to both the spring and fastener. The fastener automatically secures the cord when tension is on the cord. The fastener is pivotally mounted onto a downrigger.
