  • Patent number: 11685508
Abstract: A bonded structure is described. The bonded structure includes an outer structure including a close tolerance hole associated with a first accuracy level. The bonded structure includes an interior structure comprising an oversized hole associated with a second accuracy level that is different from the first accuracy level. The bonded structure includes an elastomeric grommet disposed in the oversized hole. The bonded structure includes one or more spacers between the outer structure and the interior structure providing a space between the outer structure and the interior structure. The bonded structure includes a fastener positioned in the close tolerance hole and in the oversized hole. The bonded structure includes a bonding media disposed in the space between the outer structure and the interior structure via one or more channels of the fastener. The bonding media, elastomeric grommet, and oversized hole collectively position the interior structure relative to the outer structure.

  • Patent number: 10329030
Abstract: There is provided a conductive radius filler system and method. The system has a composite assembly with one or more composite structures having one or more radius filler regions. The system further has one or more conductive radius fillers filling the one or more radius filler regions. Each of the conductive radius fillers has a conductive element of electrically conductive material. The system further has one or more conductive radius filler connections connecting the conductive radius fillers to one of, a fastener system, a fuel tank system, and a current generating system, to form one or more current handling systems of the system. The one or more current handling systems provide one of, edge glow mitigation of edge glow as a secondary effect of lightning strikes, electrostatic discharge mitigation of electrostatic discharge caused by refueling electrification and fuel slosh, and current return handling to provide a minimized dedicated conductive system.

  • Patent number: 10190311
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided whereby a preformed elastomeric tubular seal profile may be installed into a gap defined between an adjacent pair of structural panels. The device may include a frame and opposed first and second compression rollers attached to the frame for rotational movement about respective rotational axes. The opposed first and second compression rollers define a nip space therebetween for the introduction of a preformed elastomeric tubular seal profile, whereby moving the tubular seal profile through the nip space causes the tubular seal profile to compress and thereby form a downstream compressed profile portion and an upstream uncompressed profile portion. The compressed profile portion may thus be inserted into a gap between adjacent structural panels and thereafter allowed to expand (e.g., by removal of a plug element from a distal end thereof) to thereby seal the gap.

  • Patent number: 10137940
Abstract: A vehicle member joining structure has: a metal member that is part of a vehicle; a resin member that is adjacent to the metal member; and an adhesive that is provided between the metal member and the resin member and joins the metal member to the resin member, the adhesive having an elastic modulus that is lower than elastic moduli of the metal member and the resin member, wherein, given that (i) ?L is a difference in linear expansions of the metal member and the resin member at a time of heating in a drying process after application of the adhesive, (ii) T0 is a thickness of the adhesive and (iii) T1 is a length of an end surface of the adhesive, the following predetermined relational expression is satisfied T12=T02+?L2.

  • Patent number: 5046450
Abstract: An apparatus for the interior coating of cavities, particularly of an automobile body, comprising a spray gun having a nozzle probe plug-in coupling and spray shot trigger means and comprising nozzle probes connected to the spray gun, each thereof being allocated to a defined cavity and being composed of a nozzle tube having a plug-in end, nozzle end and positioning detent is created wherein a spray shot is only output or, respectively, can only be output when a full seating of the positioning detent against the outside wall of the cavity has been achieved. This is achieved in the positioning detent is provided with at least one contact sensor that is in an interactive connection with the spray shot trigger means of the spray gun.

  • Patent number: 4686925
Abstract: An apparatus for repairing boat hulls comprising a rack mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis. A beam is cantilevered outwardly from the rack, and a hoist mechanism is mounted for travel on the beam. A boat resting on a trailer is moved partially within the rack and the hoist mechanism located on the cantilevered end of the beam elevates the boat from the trailer. The hoist mechanism is then moved along the beam to position the boat within the rack. A series of hull clamping braces that are connected to the rack are positioned in engagement with the hull and complement the shape of the hull. The boat is lowered onto the hull braces, and a series of upper clamping braces that are connected to the rack are brought into engagement with the upper surface of the hull to clamp the boat to the rack. In some cases, side clamping assemblies can also be used to clamp the sides of the hull to the rack. By rotating the rack, the hull can be inverted so repairs or modifications can be readily made on the hull.
