Patent number: 10982654Abstract: The present invention provides a novel, floating, offshore wind turbine (FOWT) structure, referred to as a yawing buoy mast (YBM) structure. The YBM platform vertically combines a submerged spar buoy with outrigger legs and a mast on which a wind turbine nacelle is mounted. Compared to a conventional spar buoy wind turbine, weight is significantly reduced by optimizing how loads are borne and reacted by the floating structure. The mass of the YBM platform is reduced relative to the energy captured by the turbine resulting in a reduction in the cost of energy (COE). Platform load dynamics are coupled with the dynamics of the wind turbine by integration of the YBM platform and turbine controllers.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2019Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: DEHLSEN ASSOCIATES, LLCInventors: James G. Patent number: 9969463Abstract: The control system of the vessel with moving underwater wings allows steering with the wings, while in turn the front pair of wings turns in the direction of the turn, the rear pair of wings turns in the opposite direction. The wing pairs settled in the direction of the turn radius. Patent number: 8676412Abstract: A boat with several stability and handling design improvements. It has an enhanced reactive suspension system positioned in the vessel between a set of separating hull and body components. The boat also has improved braking, steering and stabilizing systems designed around multiple pivoting mechanisms on the vessel hull that work individually or in unison to achieve the desired braking or steering effect. The stabilizing system is operated by a computerized, gyroscopic hydraulic control to maintain stability and comfort of ride, minimizing the roll, pitch and yaw commonly experienced in the passenger compartment.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2009Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Inventor: Fred Pereira

Publication number: 20130340666Abstract: Planing hull extensions for watercraft are disclosed which may be mounted along the sides of the hull of a watercraft such as a boat or yacht. Typically, the hull extensions may be disposed along the side chines of the hull such that they extend the effective beam of the hull. The hull extensions may aid stabilizing the watercraft and/or inhibit wetting of the sides of the hull as well. In some cases, the hull extensions may be hydraulically operated between a closed position against the hull (or into a pocket along the side of the hull) and a fully open position substantially extending the width of the hull bottom. The position of the hull extensions may be automatically varied based upon throttle position, e.g. fully open at low throttle to fully closed against the hull at full throttle. Different hull extension position profiles may be used according to loading and water conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2013Publication date: December 26, 2013Inventor: Randy Argo

Patent number: 8578873Abstract: An adjustable surf wake system enhances a wake formed by a watercraft travelling through water. The system may include a flap for deflecting water traveling past the stern of the watercraft, and/or a positioner operably connected to the flap for positioning the flap relative to a longitudinal axis of the watercraft between a neutral position and an outward position. Positioning a port flap in its extended position enhances a starboard surf wake, and positioning the starboard flap in its extended position enhances a port surf wake.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: Malibu Boats, LLCInventors: Daniel Lee Gasper, Adam Andrew McCall, Wayne Richard Wilson, Rachael Marie Green, Jeffrey Lee Predmore, Timothy Michael Lopes
