Fluid-pressure Variation Patents (Class 116/70)
  • Patent number: 11604110
Abstract: Pressure sensor systems that include a pressure sensor die and other components in a small, space-efficient package, where the package allow gas or liquid to reach either or both sides of a membranes of the pressure sensor die. A package can include a substrate and a cap, where either or both the substrate and the cap divide the package internally into two chambers. The substrate can have a solid bottom layer, a middle layer having a slot or path running a portion of the length of the layer, and a top layer having two through-holes that provide access to the slot or path. The cap can have two ports. A first port can lead to a first chamber where a top side of a pressure sensor is in the first chamber. A second port can lead to a second chamber and the slot or path, where the slot or path leads to a bottom side of the pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 10086219
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to an automatic fluid alarm that provides a fluid-communication path between a secondary fluid source and a whistle port when a primary fluid source experiences a reduction in pressure, the automatic fluid alarm being user resettable by disconnecting the primary fluid source or otherwise reducing the primary source pressure and activating a reset member, thereby interrupting the fluid-communication path. In some examples, a piston member may provide a movable seal for providing the fluid-communication path and its interruption. An exemplary piston member may be slidably reset in a non-interrupting mode by an adequate primary fluid pressure, and slidably set in an interrupting mode by a user activation. The interrupting mode may silence the whistle which may facilitate user communication during what may be a stressful primary fluid source failure event. Some exemplary automatic fluid alarms may conserve secondary fluid when the whistle is silenced.

Abstract: The pneumatic oscillating valve includes a housing defining an internal chamber, an inlet passageway, and an outlet passageway. An annular seat extends into the internal chamber. A diaphragm is disposed in the internal chamber. The diaphragm seats against the annular seat and separates the inlet passageway from the outlet passageway. A spring engages the diaphragm to seat the diaphragm against the annular seat. As fluid is admitted to the inlet passageway, pressure increases in the inlet passageway until sufficient pressure is present to overcome the spring and unseat the diaphragm. The inlet passageway is more restrictive to fluid flow than the outlet passageway such that fluid is exhausted more quickly from the outlet passageway than can pass through the inlet passageway allowing pressure in the inlet passageway to reduce to a point less than the spring force of the spring thereby allowing the diaphragm to reseat on the seat.

Abstract: A gas regulator/valve device particularly for use in emergency escape breathing apparatus, and comprising a T-shaped regulator piston which is movable in a stepped bore and has a nylon seat for closing a jet which receives the input (high pressure) gas. Movement of the piston by the input gas from a cylinder (not shown) is balanced by a spring. An annular groove is located in the narrow section of the bore on the remote side from the input gas pressure of an O-ring seal. As cylinder gas is used up, the piston moves upwards and eventually will expose the groove to the input gas. Thereupon, gas flows through passages and actuates a whistle or a pressure transducer. A valve assembly for gas regulators is also described. This comprises a piston member which is releasable by means of a pin to move upwards, under pressure from the regulator output, so as to expose a passage which opens into the output port. The valve is intended to be difficult to close, having once been opened.

  • Patent number: 6202875
Abstract: The present invention relates to a whistling device of a cooker lid and in particular, to a handle block mounted onto a cooker lid to adjust the size of an air hole on the lid and the sound produced. A steel bead or a whistle is placed in a screw cork to produce a whistling sound and the adjustment of the handle block of the cooker lid can control the volume of the sound and the amount of hot air released from a cooker.

  • Patent number: 6155196
Abstract: A simple mechanical device is provided which generates acoustic signals at ne or more specified depths. The device consists of a spring loaded piston placed in a wall of a housing, the spring loading biasing the piston away from the housing. The piston is subjected to a pressure differential between the exterior and interior of the housing such that the piston moves against the spring force and into the housing as the pressure differential, corresponding to a depth of the housing beneath a water surface, increases. As the piston moves further into the housing, it contacts a series of latches, each latch being used to detain spring loaded striker. The latches are spaced along the travel path of the piston such that each striker is associated with a specific piston movement, or depth. When the piston contacts a latch, the striker is released and strikes against a ledge within the housing, creating one of the acoustic signals.

  • Patent number: 6142094
Abstract: A simple, mechanical device is provided which produces an acoustic signal a specified depth. The device consists of a shear plug in an exterior wall of the device housing which prevents the movement of a spring biased piston. The plug is subjected to increasing differential pressure between the exterior and interior of the housing as the depth of the device beneath the water surface increases. At a known pressure differential, corresponding to a specified depth, the shear plug fails, allowing for the actuation of the piston. The spring biased piston strikes against a ledge in the device, creating the acoustic signal.

  • Patent number: 5555905
Abstract: A cassette type gas cylinder, containing liquefied fuel gas, for giving an alarm when the volume of remaining fuel is reduced to a predetermined level or less in order to provide an advanced notice of replacement of the gas cylinder with a simple structure using burst energy of discharged gas. A valve 12 for opening and closing the discharge of liquefied gas is arranged at the center on one end of a container body 11a. A gas flow channel 17, with one end thereof opened into a gas space formed above the level of the fuel when the gas cylinder is laid horizontally, is connected to the valve 12. A vibrating member 27, for producing a sound when vibrated and caused to collide with a body by the burst of the fuel gas, is disposed in the gas flow channel 17. This vibrating member 27 is connected to a damping member 38 by means of a coupling member 29. The damping member 38 is located below a predetermined level of the liquefied fuel gas, and is subjected to resistance while moving in the liquefied fuel gas.

Abstract: A novel dosimeter capsule for indicating the condition of the solid propellant contained within a rocket motor to provide a measure of the remaining service life of the motor is described, which comprises a sealed expandable container and a portion of the solid propellant sealed therein and sized to fill the available volume within the container, the propellant portion containing a smaller concentration of chemical stabilizer than that which characterizes the solid propellant contained in the rocket motor, so that the propellant portion will deteriorate at a predictably faster rate than the rocket motor propellant, resulting in an increase of pressure within the expandable container of evolved gaseous products of the decomposition of the propellant portion and an accompanying bulge or protrusion of the container from its receptacle on the rocket motor casing corresponding to the increased internal pressure.
