Speed Limit Patents (Class 116/74)
  • Patent number: 6600409
Abstract: A self-contained accessory for an analog metering device such as a speedometer or tachometer. The accessory includes a sensor which is selectively adjustable to align with a plurality of positions in the range of movement of an output needle of the analog metering device. In the preferred embodiment, the sensor is alignable with gradation marks, e.g., miles per hour indicia on a speedometer, and the accessory provides a signal when a needle reaches a selected gradation. The signal is sent to a secondary device, such as a radar detector or central monitoring system. The signal may also be used to provide an indication that alerts a user that a selected gradation has been reached by an output needle of the analog metering device. The accessory attaches to a cover of the analog metering device and allows adjustment of sensor position without removal of the accessory from the cover.

  • Patent number: 4565322
Abstract: A liquid spray apparatus comprises a pneumatic drive and automatic speed regulating device. To this end, a vane wheel which can be acted upon by an air stream is mounted axially displaceably on a shaft. The vane wheel is in contact with regulating elements which are moved radially outwardly at increasing speed by the influence of centrifugal forces. In doing so the regulating elements act upon the vane wheel in a manner such that it is displaced at least partially out of the range of the air stream.

  • Patent number: 4377125
Abstract: A training or practice device especially designed for use on athletic club type of equipment such as a golf club, tennis racket, baseball bat or the like which is swung to strike a game ball during normal game use and which device is releasably attached to the club, racket or bat and operable to provide an audible and visual indication when the swing of said equipment is proper. The device includes an element that is actuatable to give an audible and visual indication when the swing of the club type equipment has the optimum velocity and power for striking the game ball. The element is manually resettable after each swing of the equipment for subsequent and repeatable use of said equipment whereby the user, by practice, may repeatedly obtain the optimum velocity and power on each swing of the equipment.

  • Patent number: 4259918
Abstract: A traction wheel motion sensor for endless conveyors which is self-cleaning of foreign matter that may enter the traction wheel housing and is spring biased toward the associated conveyor. A traction wheel housing located adjacent a moving conveyor engages the conveyor for sensing the rate of linear displacement thereof, and the wheel drives motion sensing apparatus through a belt. The housing includes a bottom surface which is obliquely oriented to the horizontal wherein foreign matter entering the housing is automatically discharged therefrom and further, the traction wheel is mounted upon apparatus biased toward the conveyor by spring means wherein the traction wheel maintains an operative driven relationship with the conveyor during conveyor operation.

  • Patent number: 4119055
Abstract: The invention pertains to apparatus for sensing the motion of endless conveyors. A housing, on which a traction wheel having a high friction periphery is rotatably mounted, is located adjacent the moving conveyor member to be sensed, and the housing includes an open end through which a portion of the wheel periphery extends for engagement with the moving member. The wheel rotates a shaft which is belted to the input shaft of a motion sensor, preferably of the electrical type, mounted upon the housing. In one embodiment of the invention the traction wheel is adjustably mounted upon the housing whereby adjustment of the wheel to the moving member is facilitated. In another embodiment the wheel housing is of an elongated configuration utilizing a mounting bracket which may be affixed to the housing at the desired position to accommodate the dimensions of the particular installation.

  • Patent number: 4022147
Abstract: A signal device signals cycle changes in a dryer by sounding a bell assembly upon acceleration and/or deceleration of the motor shaft. When the rotational speed of the flywheel is synchronized with the rotational speed of the motor shaft there is no striking contact between the bell assembly and the clapper of the flywheel assembly. A one-way spring clutch is employed to limit signaling to either acceleration or deceleration of the motor shaft. The device also may be constructed in a reverse manner, with the bell acting as a flywheel journaled on the shaft and the clapper assembly rotatable with the motor shaft.
