Applicator Movable To Coating Material Supply Patents (Class 118/263)
  • Patent number: 8733271
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for continuous coating with a rotational die in which coating materials flow in a radial direction. The linear speed of a substrate in need of coating is identical to the tangential speed of the surface of the rotational die so that the coating material, which flows in a radial direction of the rotational die, flows onto the substrate perpendicularly. Therefore, the ingredients of coating materials overlap one another (or stand vertically as a layer), and the vertical sequence of the coating material is ensured. This method and apparatus can be used to make organic electronic devices, organic light-emitting diodes and organic photovoltaic devices. Particularly, this method and apparatus can be used in bulk-hetero-junction of mixed coating of P-type and N-type semiconductors.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to a flat box finisher for applying mud (or mastic or joint compound) over taped joints on walls and ceilings. Usually, paint or wallpaper is then applied over the finished mud. The flat box finisher has no external springs, but has at least one internal support bar which acts as a spring for applying pressure to a corresponding dry wall finishing handle affixed to the flat box finisher. The internal support bar is surrounded by the mud while the device is in use. As a result of having no external spring, the flat box finisher may be reduced in size for smaller jobs or difficult to reach areas of a room. The internal support bar may also eliminate problems with external springs, such as the spring wearing out or becoming damaged during use or storage.

The interaction of the pulses with the solution within a laser spot irritates a photochemical reaction resulting in a metal ion reduction into the elementary state thereof by associating the required number of electrons and deposition of metallic film which is firmly fixed to the filler of the sheet material in the laser spot area on the material surface. Abstract: The process and apparatus of the present invention teaches how to treat a well-integrated woven or non-woven web of hydrophobic fibers to make selective areas hydrophyllic. It also can be used to make a web of hydrophyllic fibers selectively hydrophobic. It uses a plurality of selectively adjustable covers on an applicator roll rotating in a bath of liquid to place the liquid material on selective areas of the moving web. In a preferred embodiment the web is non-woven and the fibers are hydrophobic in nature, e.g., dry-laid or melt-blown polypropylene or polyethylene fibers or spun-bonded hydrophobic filaments. A woven web made of cotton or other hydrophyllic fibers may also be used if the end result is to create partially hydrophobic areas on a hydrophyllic web. The areas of liquid are positioned on the web only where desired so as to eliminate the excessive cost of unwanted and unnecessary coating material. • Patent number: 5336319
Abstract: An apparatus for uniformly coating a planar substrate with an adhesive layer has a rotatably mounted sleeve with closed ends to form an internal cavity therein. The sleeve has a plurality of holes therein and its outer surface is covered by a porous layer such as a foam layer. A vacuum is applied to the sleeve cavity, while the sleeve is rotated. One surface of a polymeric film is positioned on the porous layer and held in place by the vacuum acting through the sleeve holes and porous layer. The other surface of the polymeric film contains a uniform adhesive coating. The surface of a planar substrate is tangentially transported past the polymeric film surface with the adhesive layer and in timed registration therewith, so that a nip is formed between the planar substrate and the polymeric film which transfers a uniformly thick portion of adhesive to the planar substrate surface.

  • Patent number: 5186982
Abstract: A method and an assembly useful for dispensing small quantities of liquid materials onto a workpiece. The assembly includes an applicator having a pin movable along a passageway from a retracted position to an extended position. As the pin moves to the extended position, a forward end of the pin picks up a small dot of the liquid materials and carries the dot to a position external of a housing of the applicator and into contact with a selected location on the workpiece. As the pin is retracted, a portion of the dot remains on the selected location and detaches from the pin. The assembly is particularly useful for dispensing small dots of solder paste at relatively high speeds in automated fashion at selected locations on a circuit board.

Abstract: Apparatus for applying one or more films of coating material to a running substrate of paper or the like has an endless belt which is trained over pulleys so that its upper reach advances toward a transfer station for coating material and its lower reach advances toward a station for the application of liquefied solvent-containing material. The underside of the lower reach of the belt is heated by a set of infrared heaters so that the liquefied coating material is applied to preheated portions of the belt. This promotes and contributes to predictability of expulsion of solvent from the film along the upper reach of the belt and ensures more predictable solidification of coating material ahead of the transfer station.

  • Patent number: 5012758
Abstract: Skis are waxed by a heated sole plate 18 with a porous insert 42 which is flexibly applied to the gliding surface and can be shifted in a longitudinal direction. The insert absorbs wax 50 from a tub 48 heated to a pasty consistency. Porous sheet material 46 may be applied between the sole and the gliding surface. The treatment can include the removal of remnants of old wax from the gliding surface, which is absorbed by the sheet material and softened by heating the gliding surface with the sole. The wax penetrates into the micro cavities of the ski bottom coating and any scratches in it, and the sheet material ensures that a smooth, flat and flexible layer is formed on the gliding surface.
