  • Patent number: 5925390
Abstract: A multiple-compartmented cat food serving system for simultaneously introducing at least two differently flavored cat food products in a manner which allows the cat owner to determine which foods appeal to the cat and which foods do not. In accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the inventive system, different flavors of cat food products are supplied at the point of purchase in respective compartments of a sealed, multiple-compartmented receptacle. If desired, one of the receptacle compartments may be supplied empty so that the cat owner may fill it with a small quantity of water for consumption with the meal. In order to allow the cat owner to ascertain whether a particular flavor is not being eaten by his or her cat, each compartment of the receptacle has associated therewith indicia to identify the flavor of the food product contained therein. If one or more newly introduced flavors of cat food do not appeal to the cat, then the owner may avoid purchasing and serving those flavors in the future.

  • Patent number: 5884582
Abstract: A pet feeder holding food and/or water dishes for domestic animals. The pet feeder helps to keep pets from scattering their food or splattering their drink out of their dishes, and is especially useful for preventing dogs with floppy ears from getting their ears wet. In the preferred embodiment, the invention has interfitting top and bottom parts. The top part has a handle, and two opposite openings. Likewise, the bottom part has a bottom surface, and two opposite openings, which continue and are equal in width with the openings in the top part. Within each opening a dish can be placed, which may contain food or water. Normally, food will be placed in one dish, and water in the other. In an alternative embodiment, there is a hole in the top part to retain a water bottle allowing two different foodstuffs being placed in the dishes. The device prevents the long, floppy ears of certain animals from getting into the bowl. The top part may be lifted off the bottom part, using the handle.

Abstract: A feeding apparatus for feeding livestock. The apparatus includes a feed container having an upper opening. The container has two projecting lips extending along portions of a perimeter surrounding the upper opening. A sliding cover has two retaining channels formed thereon. The projecting lips of the container are configured to slidably engage within the retaining channels of the cover in an interlocking configuration to prevent removal of the cover other than by sliding. The cover may be a solid lid member or a creep feeder cage having passages formed therein. A pair of blocking tabs are secured to the cover at proximal ends of the projecting lips to block the cover from sliding beyond a closed position.

Abstract: A pet dispenser having an outer cylindrical housing with a top lid and an inner cylindrical water container essentially concentric with and inverted in the outer cylindrical housing for storing and automatically dispensing water into a trough to maintain a predetermined water level in said trough. A magnetically responsive switch is coupled to an interior surface of the top lid of the outer cylindrical housing. A low water level condition indicator is externally coupled to the top lid and electrically coupled to the magnetically responsive switch. A magnetic float in the inner cylindrical water container transitions the magnetically responsive switch from an open state to a closed state when as the water level in the inner water container goes below a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 5819686
Abstract: The invention herein described allows for an operator to fill a hopper with an animal food. The hopper contains an inclined chute that will funnel the food to a food trough platform and in turn to an extension member. The food on the platform is protected from the elements via an encasement as well as the swinging door. The animal may pivot the door open in order to reach the food. The hopper is disposed within a basin filled with a fluid such as water. The hopper will be surrounded by the fluid on all four sides. The food trough platform is raised above the water body in a moat like fashion. The fluid level within the basin is controlled via a water feeder control valve member so that a fresh water supply is automatically controlled within the basin. The water also serves to keep insects from the food. Therefore, an animal is allowed a fresh food and water supply for an extended amount of time.

  • Patent number: 5787839
Abstract: A multiple compartment container designed to contain and carry pet food and water when on trips or traveling. The lower compartment of the container is an insulated unit designed to contain a supply of water. The upper compartment of the container comprises a dish compartment designed to hold food which may be closed by a sealing cover. The dish compartment sits on the lower compartment and forms a closure for the lower compartment. The upper compartment is removable from the lower compartment so the lower and upper compartments may be separately used for feeding or watering an animal as required. The container has a pivotal handle that provides ease of transport and locks the upper compartment in place for carrying. The handle may be pivoted to the container to selectively lock or unlock the compartments. A cover for the upper compartment is rotatable between an open and a closed position which seals the contents in the dish of the upper compartment.
