  • Patent number: 10123507
Abstract: An animal feeder configured to provide feed to animals via gravity actuation is disclosed. The animal feeder may be configured such that feed is contained within a feed container and provided to animals via gravity and through an outlet opening configured to eliminate stagnant pockets and feed spoilage. The animal feeder is also configured to feed only specific animals. In particular, the animal feeder may include a support system with a pivot for supporting the feed container above ground level and enabling the feed container to rotate relative to the pivot, thereby preventing smaller species animals from feeding in the feed trough in favor of larger species animals. If a smaller species animal attempts to jump and place its front legs on the feeder to feed from the feed trough, the feeder spins causing the smaller species animal to fall back to the ground.

The panels are foldable from a deployed condition, in which the panel assembly extends from the opposite ends thereof away from the trough to enclose a feeding area spanning from the trough past the open side of the feeder, to a stowed condition in which the panel assembly extends between the end walls in proximity to the open side to effect closing thereof.

Abstract: Gravity flow animal feed dispensing apparatus includes feed supply tubes depending from a bottom wall of a feed storage hopper supported by a frame elevated above ground level. Feed dispensing tubes or a plate are connected to the feed supply tubes and flow control baffles and/or a flow control valve limit the dispensation of feed. A wildfowl embodiment of the apparatus includes an access control cage disposed about the feed dispensing member. The orientation of the feed supply tubes and dispensing tubes may be varied to provide access to feed by animals of various sizes and to provide for placement of the apparatus adjacent a confinement wall or fence.

Abstract: An automated feeding system for pets with special diets includes a feeder dish which is made accessible to a pet only when an ID tag on the pet is recognized as authorized by a receiver on the device and only for a certain time period. The appropriate amount of food is thereby made available at appropriate time intervals. If a plurality of tags is pre-programmed as authorized, each animal's tag can sequentially activate the feeding device to feed each animal, respectively. However, if more than one authorized tag is present in the feeding time set for one animal, the drawer closes.

Abstract: A feeder assembly for feeding birds of all kinds is provided in three separate embodiments. The feeder assembly of each embodiment is configured to provide for the welfare of birds as they feed from the feeder assembly by allowing the birds' breasts to conform to a rim member of the feeder assembly. The feeder assembly of two embodiments also provides for a lower feed gate to provide feed into a pan member of the feeder assembly. The lower feed gate is always open and can be raised or lowered as desired. The feeder assembly of one of the embodiments also provides for an upper feed gate to provide feed into the pan member of the feeder assembly. The upper feed gate can be opened or closed, and, when open, can adjust the height at which feed flows through the upper feed gate.

  • Patent number: 6681717
Abstract: A method and system for creating a customized animal feed includes having ingredient data from more than one location, animal data, and evaluation data. The specifications for a customized feed are generated using ingredient data representative of the mix of ingredients available at one or more locations. A customized feed is generated which is designed to fulfill the nutritional requirements for the animal's diet. The nutritional requirements are derived from the animal data. Furthermore, the feed is optimized to fulfil the requirements of the evaluation criteria. Evaluation criteria such as (i) animal production rate, (ii) the cost of feed per unit animal weight gain, and (iii) the feed weight per unit animal weight gain, are then utilized together with the feed data and animal data to provide a customized feed which has been generated based upon evaluation data which is representative of one or more of the evaluation criteria.

Abstract: A wild game feeder which channels feed to feed ports through channels in an insert. The game feeder has a feed chamber with a flared base, preferably conical. An insert fits reversibly into the flared base. When feed is added to the feed chamber the insert distributes the feed evenly in the flared base and directs the feed uniformly through channels by gravity to the feed ports in the base. As the feed spills from the feed ports to the ground, the feed accumulates at the feed ports so as to prevent further spillage until an animal consumes the feed. The flared contour of the base prevents deer from injuring their growing antlers on the feed chamber as they feed.
