Abstract: A bird activity device, kit and associated method is disclosed for use in allowing birds to perch onto the device. The device comprises: an axle; a suspending device; an internal carousel; and an external carousel. The suspending device is attached to the axle and is for suspending the axle of the device in a substantially horizontal alignment. The internal carousel is pivotally attached to the axle. The external carousel is pivotally attached to the axle, wherein the external carousel envelopes the internal carousel. The kit comprises an axle; a suspending device; an internal carousel; and an external carousel and an attachable toy. The method comprises the steps of affixing, allowing, clamping, clipping, connecting, latching, obtaining, screwing, sliding, and slipping.
Abstract: Disclosed is a small animal exercise device, suitable for allowing a small rodent or other small and trainable animal to be domesticated, and confined in a relatively small space while enjoying the benefits of exercise that accrue to mammals of all kinds. The exercise device includes a dish, a stand and a connecting assembly. The dish provides an effectively large and safe exercise surface, while physically fitting into the confined environment or small enclosure for small animals such as rodents and the like. The dish has an outer periphery and a raceway having a solid surface adjacent the periphery. The dish is rotatably connected to a stand, which elevates the dish above the horizontal surface upon which the stand rests, to allow the dish to rotate freely during rodent or other small animal exercise. The connecting assembly, includes among other things, a bearing assembly which fixedly, but rotatably connects the dish to the stand, more particularly, the distal end of the stand defines a bearing shaft.
Abstract: A small animal activity device having at least two play elements at opposite ends of a pivoting arm and a hollow support member which provides access to the play elements for physically and mentally stimulating small animals.
Abstract: Apparatus for use in exercising a dog or other animal on a treadmill. For some applications the apparatus may be releasably secured to the treadmill. For other applications the apparatus may be permanently attached to the treadmill. The apparatus preferably includes first and second generally U-shaped frame members with a pair of side members attached thereto and extending therebetween. One or more rings are provided as part of the apparatus for use in positioning the dog or other animal at a desired location on the treadmill. A system may also be provided for local and/or remote recording, monitoring and evaluation of exercises performed by the dog or other animal.
Abstract: A squirrel cage has a support including a base adapted to rest on a flat surface. The base has support arms extending upwardly from the base, and a cylinder, having an inner radius, supported by the support arms of the base for relative rotation with respect to the base when an animal, such as a hamster, runs on the inner radius of the cylinder. The cylinder has a support member having a centrally located opening for receiving the support arms of the base. A cyclometer has a sensor mounted on the support and a trigger mounted on the cylinder such that when the cylinder rotates, the trigger passes near the sensor. The trigger actuates the sensor when it passes the sensor. The sensor of the cyclometer counts the number of rotations of the cylinder when the trigger actuates the sensor. A method of the present invention monitors the activity of the animal.
Abstract: An exercise assembly adapted to build endurance in dogs by allowing them to maintain a continuous running mode. A support frame serves to movably support a treadmill and a treadway mounted thereon wherein a plurality of independent, spaced apart roller assemblies support and allow the continuous linear movement of the closed configuration treadmill. The dog, running on the treadmill is prompted to continue his running motion by attempting to reach a bait animal maintained in a bait cage out of the reach of the dog being exercised.
