  • Patent number: 8918163
Abstract: The invention facilitates transport of an immobilized, anesthetized small animal across multiple single-modality or multiple-modality imaging workstations at the same or different physical locations without loss of subject positional information. The animal holder is compatible with preclinical animal imaging stations such as micro-CT, micro-MR, micro-PET, micro-SPECT, and FMT. The animal holder is configured to be accommodated by (for example, fit within) individual imaging chambers of such instruments and is fabricated from materials that are compliant with all of the imaging modalities used. In certain embodiments, an integrated set of fiducial marker wells accommodates the dispensing of markers that are picked up by several modalities simultaneously in multiple planes. The fiducial markers then are aligned in standard image processing or image analysis software with simple image translation and rotation operations, without the need for more advanced scaling, distortion or other operations.

The platform will connect to any readily available generic harness having a ventral strap, collar strap, and girth strap which by the design of these components provides a secure point of connection between the animal's or pet's front legs and the center of the platform. The platform is circular in form with a centered connection point that uses the animal's own weight and position to prevent free movement. The animal or pet can sit or stand but is limited in directional movement by the connection between the platform and the harness.

  • Patent number: 6502531
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for restraining wildlife with minimal trauma to the animal. The apparatus includes a housing having open front and rear ends allowing the entry and exit of a target animal, while the rear end includes an openable/closable door effective for controlling the egress of the target animal from the housing. To immobilize the animal, a deer lift is disposed within the interior of the housing having opposed, outwardly and upwardly inclined surfaces which are vertically movable between a first, lower position and a second, raised position. The opposed surfaces are spaced from one another with the space therebetween defining a narrow passageway allowing the target animal to walk between the opposed surfaces in the lower position. However, the width between the opposed surfaces is sufficiently close such that they engage the trunk or body of the animal when raised.

  • Patent number: 6079368
Abstract: A rod-shaped animal restraining device, the length of which is adjustable to fit securely under tension between two vertical walls such as the walls of a bathtub or shower stall, the rod shaped restraining device including an attachment for easy securement of an animal to the rod. Adjustment of the length of the rod-shaped device is preferably accomplished by providing a lever activated length adjustment device, such that pivoting of a lever changes the overall length of the rod-shaped device. The device is simple, lightweight, made of non-corrosive materials, and can be quickly and easily installed between two opposing vertical walls. The device thus enables pet owners to securely restrain their pets while the animals are being bathed indoors.

  • Patent number: 5513598
Abstract: A piece of furniture whose supporting structure is formed by peripheral walls and a base wall is supported by feet and wheels, has a rectangular cross-section and is closed by a tray-like covering element at its upper end. The piece of furniture is divided into at least two spaces, one of which is sealed and the other contains an annular blower, driven by an electric motor, and also a tank with a vertical axis, at whose upper end a filter is introduced. A suction duct leads to the aperture of the tank, and terminates on the outside forming a pipe union for the connection to a flexible tube which ends into a hose. The suction aperture of the blower is connected to the tank by way of a duct which ends into the tank below the filter, whereas the emission aperture of hot air under pressure of the blower is connected to the duct which projects out of the piece of furniture forming a pipe union for the connection to a flexible linking tube, which ends into a hose.
