Unitary Type Patents (Class 119/793)
  • Patent number: 6371056
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing a pet are disclosed. The apparatus includes an elongated leash having a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the leash includes a clasp connected thereto, and the clasp, itself, includes a locking mechanism (such as a key lock or a combination lock) therein that allows the clasp to open and close when unlocked and that prevents opening of the clasp when locked. The clasp is adapted for connection to a collar or a harness worn by the associated animal to be secured. When the clasp is connected to the collar or harness, enlargement or other operation of same for purposes of releasing the associated animal is prevented. Further, when the locking mechanism of the clasp is locked after the clasp has been connected to the collar or harness, unauthorized removal of the clasp from the collar or harness is prevented. The proximal end of the leash includes a handle that is preferably defined from conventional molded plastic or the like.

  • Patent number: 5791295
Abstract: A training leash for use with an animal neck collar including a band having a first end and a second end, the band having a length defined between the first end and the second end. A first ring is mounted on the first end of the band, a first portion of the length of the band being received through the first ring, defining a loop encircling a torso of an animal. A second ring is slidingly mounted on the band and mounted on the collar. A second portion of the length of the band, between the first ring and the second ring, defines a distance which varies as a tension of the band varies. Other embodiments and a method also are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5497733
Abstract: A combination animal choke collar and least which includes an elongated, continuous member having a grasping portion on one of its ends, its opposite end being folded upon itself and fastened so as to form a loop which captures a rectangular frame. The handle portion when drawn through the rectangular frame forms a loop which is used as a choke collar and provides a second position. A first, position is provided when the choke collar is in place around the animal's neck, and the leash portion of the member is wrapped around upon itself and held secure by a loop and pile fastener such as VELCRO (tm). This device can be worn by the animal at all times when in its first position and when a person desires control over the animal they simply give a gentle tug on the grasping portion and the device assumes its second position. • Patent number: 5456213
Abstract: A combination dog leash and non-injurios choke collar. The leash includes a six foot long strip of webbing with a clip-on device at one end of the strip for attachment to the dog's collar. At the other end of the strip of webbing is one half of a two part fixture whose other half is slidably strung onto the strip of webbing. The two parts of the fixture are designed to be easily joined together or separated by a pinching movement of the thumb and finger. A square of the webbing is sewn to the flat face of the strip of webbing about twelve inches from the end of the strip of webbing and between the two parts of the fixture. The restraining or choke collar is formed by wrapping the strip of webbing around the dog's neck and joining together the two part fixture. The collar cannot injure the dog due to the square of webbing sewn to the strip which prevents the collar from becoming small enough to actually injure the dog.

  • Patent number: 5383426
Abstract: A dog harness has a collar having a front ring and at least one ring located at its free ends. A releasable buckle functions to releasably couple the collar free ends. A cord passes through the front ring and forms a pair of loops for disposition in the foreleg pits of a dog. A fastener at a cord free end releasably secures this end which cord is also adapted to be coupled permanently with a leash. A strain on the leash and harness caused by the dog will exert pressure to the foreleg pits which will result in the dog reacting to decrease this pressure.

  • Patent number: 5379726
Abstract: An animal collar, more specifically a dog collar for use with large and powerful dogs, has a rigid handle securely affixed to its center so that the handler maintains complete control over the dog at all times and there is excellent communication between dog and handler. The handle is angled such that the correct orientation is maintained whether the handler is on the right or left side of the dog. The collar also is fitted with rings to accomodate a standard leash. A curved steel reinforcing plate within the layers of the collar prevents the handle from coming dislodged. The collar is wide enough so as not to pinch or cut off the windpipe of the dog even under strain.
