Abstract: The present invention relates to a pet dog muzzle and, more specifically, to a pet dog muzzle comprising: a frame to be positioned between the upper jaw portion and the lower jaw portion of a pet dog; a screener coupled to the lower portion of a frame so as to surround the lower jaw portion of the pet dog; and a fixing band coupled to the rear portion of the frame, whereby the muzzle can minimize discomfort of the pet dog to reduce resistance thereof, and thus can be easily worn.

Abstract: A dental bite block is provided. The dental bite block includes a body having a first end and a second end, an outer sidewall, and an inner sidewall. The body comprises an upper biting surface positioned within an upper channel and a lower biting surface within a lower channel. The outer sidewall and the inner sidewall extend past the upper and lower biting surfaces and define the upper channel and the lower channel, respectively. The upper channel and the lower channel are each able to receive a row of teeth therein. The dental bite block prevents the biting down and provides safe access to the interior of the mouth. A handle extends from the bite block and is releasably tethered to a toothbrush such that the teeth of the subject may be brushed when the teeth are received within the mouth of the subject.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is generally directed to a slow feeder grazing muzzle for use with animals, such as horses. Slow feeder grazing muzzles fit over at least a portion of the animal's nose and mouth, affecting the amount of grass or other feed that is accessible to the animal. The disclosed muzzle includes a top flap, bottom flap, and opposing side flaps that are capable of interconnecting with each other to form a central opening. In addition, a series of interchangeable inserts can be positioned within the central opening to adjust the amount of grass or feed the horse can access. In this way, the rate of speed and amount of grass the horse eats can be controlled and/or adjusted as desired by the owner.

Abstract: Apparatus for spacing apart the jaws of an animal, such as a canine, in a fixed relationship during the performance of a medical or dental procedure. The apparatus includes a bite member for spacing apart the teeth of an animal, a strap adapted to be wound around the snout of the animal for confining the snout and a strap connector with the strap connector having one end thereof adapted for attachment to the strap and another end for holding the jaws in relatively tight engagement against the bite member after the strap is wound around the snout.

Abstract: Embodiments of a dog restraining apparatus comprise a dog collar and a collar positioning assembly. The collar is configured to attach to a leash at a location behind the dog's head when the collar is secured around the dog's neck. The collar positioning assembly includes an alignment strap having ends attachable to the collar at respective collar attachment locations such that the alignment strap is extendable across the dog's nose bridge when the dog collar is secured around the dog's neck The collar attachment locations may be adjustable along the collar. The alignment strap may have a continuous or non-continuous bead of elastomer disposed on its interior surface to frictionally engage the dog's nose. The collar positioning assembly may be readily detachable from, and re-attachable to, the collar. Attachment of the strap ends may be facilitated by intervening structures such as strap end loops, O-rings and releasable collar attachment loops.

A left window is in the left side section and a similarly configured right window is in the right side section. A left flap is configured and sized to cover the left window and a similarly configured right flap is configured and sided to cover the right window. A securement assembly selectively retains each flap in a raised orientation above the window or in a lowered orientation covering the window. A brushing assembly has a flexible strap coupled to the lower section. The brushing assembly includes a toothbrush removably coupled to the flexible strap.

A left flap is configured and sized to cover the left window and a similarly configured right flap is configured and sided to cover the right window. A securement assembly selectively retains each flap in a raised orientation above the window or in a lowered orientation covering the window.

Abstract: A horse muzzle comprises: a nose band; a head strap extended from the nose band; a mouth cover flap extended from the nose band; and side edges of the mouth cover flap defining lateral openings for a bridle bit. A horse muzzle also comprises a nose band; a head strap extended from the nose band; a mouth cover flap extended from the nose band and made at least in part with flexible mesh fabric. The horse muzzles may be used for trail riding or riding in general when a bit is used.

Abstract: An animal halter 102 has a muzzle loop 104 adapted to fit over the upper and lower jaws of an animal such as a dog. The animal halter 102 also comprises a collar loop 108 for attachment around the neck of the dog. The halter 102 is formed from a single piece of fabric looped in a figure of eight configuration and threaded through forward control ring 116 and a second ring 117. Second ring 117 has a smaller diameter than forward control ring 116 to prevent the forward control ring 116 from passing through the second ring 117. When an animal to which the halter is attached pulls on the halter against a lead, rings 116 and 117 tend to lock the halter fabric therebetween such that the respective sizes of the muzzle loop 104 and collar loop 108 do not change.

Abstract: The muzzle release apparatus allows an operator to remotely and wirelessly disengage a restraint system from the snout of an animal. The system is activated using a small hand-held transmitter. A receiver on the collar detects the signal from the transmitter and electronically engages a solenoid mounted on a restraint under the animal's jaw. The solenoid retracts a locking mechanism that secures two metal pins to the restraint. Each pin is attached to a strap that goes around the animal's snout and is permanently mounted to the opposite side of the restraint. When the pins are released from the restraint, the straps slide off the snout allowing the restraint to fall freely away from the jaw area. The plate is attached to a collar around the animal's neck. The plate will stay attached to the collar at all times, even if deactivated.

Abstract: A protective device for an animal includes a substantially rigid mandible mask substantially housing the mandible and the mouth of an animal, but not the top of the snout of the animal. The mask defines at least one opening in a bottom portion of the mask positioned to allow debris to egress. An at least semi rigid front restraining member is coupled to opposite sides of the mandible mask and adapted to extend over the snout of the animal. A rear restraining member is coupled to opposite sides of the mandible mask and adapted to extend around the neck of the animal. The rear restraining member and the front restraining remember are adapted to fit such that the device is substantially fitted to the animal's head whereby the animal cannot contact its mouth with an afflicted area of its body.

Further control over the animal is gained by downward pressure applied to the top of the snout, stimulating a submissive behavioural response in the animal.

Abstract: An anti-barking and anti-biting muzzle for dogs includes a muzzle portion formed from a pair of generally trapezoidal flaps of elastic material sewn together along the converging edges thereof, with the flaps being further divided by a seam along the longitudinal centerline thereof to create four panel members of the elastic material. An elongated strap is connected at its ends to opposed seams of the muzzle portion. The muzzle can be slid onto the snout of a dog and the strap fitted over the dog's head behind its ears. The muzzle portion has a snug fit on the snout but the elasticity of the material allows the dog to open its jaws slightly for panting. If the dog tries to open its jaws wider to bark or bite the four elastic panel members apply a force to the jaws to prevent them from opening wide. The muzzle is not uncomfortable and it acts as a training aid since the animal associates the wearing of the muzzle as a form of punishment for barking or biting.

An adjustable collar loop encircles the neck of the animal at a comfortable position on the animal. A leash attaches to a ring secured to the collar. Built into the leash is a fully adjustable muzzle encircling loop. The muzzle encircling loop can be readily loosened or tightened, shortened or lengthened to accommodate different sizes and types of muzzles without interfering with the integrity and functioning of the leash. The muzzle encircling loop passes through a ring attached to the collar to form a control device which can be tightened down into a muzzle or left in a loosened position to be used as a humane control or restraining device to aid in achieving obedient or desired behavior.
