Abstract: An equine support boot comprises a base portion, at least one upper strap, a concave portion formed in the base portion, an orthopedic pad disposed in the concave portion, and at least one sling strap connected to the base portion, the sling strap being configured to apply an upward force on the concave portion.

Abstract: A dog boot is provided comprising a generally vertical and cylindrical elongated tubular legging portion ending in and connected to a toe-box portion both of which are attached within a generally horizontal non-slide sole portion. The legging portion extends upwardly from the toe-box portion and defines an offset longitudinal slit providing adjacent, opposite, overlapping flap portions that are equipped with loop and hook fastening material allowing for ease of insertion and extraction of the dog's leg and paw. The generally tubular legging portion has two adjustable fastening straps for cinching the legging portion securely at two separate points around the dog's leg. Within the non-slide portion is a removable sole insert shaped to receive the pads of the dog's paw wherein the removable sole insert works as a shock absorber for the dog and adds comfort and stability during wear.

Abstract: An adjustable dog harness has a pair of adjustable length neck straps through which a dog's head passes. A chest strap passes from the neck under the chest and back, to connect with a pair of adjustable length side straps. These side straps pass up from the chest strap to a belly region that may optionally include a belly strap. The side straps are formed into folds, at approximately 45 degree angles, to continue as adjustable length back straps to the adjustable length neck straps. A sliding position ring couples a lead or leash to the side/back strap folds. Buckles are provided in the side straps, and in the optional belly strap, to permit rapid placement and removal of the harness. Through appropriate adjustment of the side and back straps, the harness will alternatively be adapted to function as a pulling, walking, or vehicle harness and for other diverse applications.

Abstract: A harness for restraining an animal, particularly a dog, includes: a body loop to encircle a rear abdominal area of the animal, wherein the body loop comprises a connector to a leash to be held by a person; and at least one rear-leg loop to encircle a top area of a rear leg of the animal; wherein the body loop comprises a lasso mechanism to create a lasso effect upon an outburst of said animal.

Abstract: An animal toenail grip designed and configured to provide an animal with traction on slippery and/or hard surfaces. The toenail grip includes a tubular member removably securable via frictional interference to the nail of the animal. The tubular member is constructed of a flexible, returnably-resilient material having superior non-slip or gripping characteristics. The toenail grip enhances proprioception in animals having certain neurological deficits and yields long term improvement in gait and stance on hard-surface flooring.

Abstract: A health-beneficial pet collar includes a belt, a fastening device connected to between two opposite ends of the belt, an adjusting member, and a magnetic unit. By operating the fastening device, the two ends of the belt can be selectively connected to each other for the belt to form a loop structure enclosing a receiving space therein, through which a pet's neck can extend. The adjusting member is slidably connected to the belt near an end thereof for adjusting a diameter of the loop structure as necessary. The magnetic unit may include an engaging member axially engaged with one side of the belt in contact with the pet's neck, and a plurality of magnets sandwiched between the belt and the engaging member. With the magnets mounted on the belt, the pet collar can help the pet to improve blood circulation, reduce the possibility of cancer and relieve pains.

Abstract: The invention is a method for protecting the neck of an animal following surgical insertion of an esophagostomy tube. The e-Tube protective collar prevents injury to the surgical site, provides stabilization of the e-Tube and prevents accidental or deliberate removal of the tube by the animal. The collar is constructed of two layers of fabric which encircles the animal's neck and fastens via hook and loop fastener strips under the neck allowing for adjustment of tightness. There is a stitched hole in the fabric for the e-Tube to pass through which is then held stable once the collar is placed around the animal's neck. The collar has a hook and loop fastener strip disposed on the top face to fold over the loose end of longer e-Tubes and hold them flat against the collar. The collar requires minimal dressing for the wound and protects it while allowing it to “breathe”.

Abstract: This invention serves as a restraining and controlling device for animals. The invention allows quick mounting and fitting by using an adjustable neck strap with sliding buckle. The invention provides an optional hood for masking the animal's vision. The hood can prevent an animal from running and limit the animal's ability to bite. The invention can be further secured in place by the use of optional straps which wrap around the animal's chest, preventing the invention from moving up and/or forward. The invention provides a handle directly behind the animal's neck. This handle location allows the user to position the animal without the animal being in range to bite the user. With the hood deployed the invention allows for unobstructed access to the rear of the animal's head, and with the hood folded (not deployed) the user may also access the front of the animal's head.

Abstract: An animal restraint system including a body harness and a removable control strap assembly. The control strap assembly may include no-pull or no jump/run modules. The body harness includes three adjustable straps that fit over the animal's back, in front of the chest, and underneath and behind the front legs, and two leg straps that encircle the animal's front legs. The no-pull module includes a strap for connecting a leash to the front leg straps. Pulling force is transferred to the animal's front legs, thereby reducing its ability to pull. The no-jump/run module includes hind leg straps that encircle the animal's hind legs and are connected to the corresponding front leg straps by connecting straps. A rear back strap extends across the back of the animal. The design works by limiting the range of motion of the front legs relative to the hind legs to inhibit jumping and running.

Abstract: An animal lifting device and method is provided. In particular, a hip member and a chest member are provided that have handles thereon. The chest member and the hip member may be selectively interconnected to each other with an interconnection member. The chest member may include an upper portion, shoulder pads, a chest pad, a center cross member, and an adjustable strap. The hip member may include an upper portion, an adjustable sling, and adjustable straps.

Abstract: A restraint system for an animal comprising a collar assembly and a retractable leash assembly. The collar assembly comprises a strap member adapted to be secured around a portion of the animal and a pouch member secured to the strap member. The pouch member defines a pouch chamber and an open end. The retractable leash assembly comprises a retraction assembly secured to the strap member within the pouch chamber, a cord member operatively connected to the retraction assembly, and a handle member operatively connected to the cord member. The retractable leash assembly is operable in a retracted configuration in which the handle member is substantially within the pouch chamber. The retractable leash assembly is operable in an extended configuration in which the handle member is outside of the pouch chamber.

Abstract: Leash attachments designed to reduce the tangling of a pet leash around the hind legs of a pet during a walk are provided. The leash attachment can be a rearward leash positioner comprising a strap configured to secure around the torso of a pet. A leash guide member attached to the strap is designed to reposition the fall point of a leash to a position that is rearward of its fall point in the absence of the leash positioner.

Abstract: A non-choking harness for a pet which evenly distributes stress throughout the chest area and away from the neck area of the pet when the leash is pulled to prevent choking. A center portion of the body part substantially covers the chest area of the pet. The two neck ends are configured to wrap around a neck of the pet and the two torso ends are configured to wrap around a torso of the pet. The adjustable strap removably connects a first torso end to a second torso end, and adjusts the size of the torso opening to provide a comfortable fit. The connection part is configured to removably connect to the two neck ends, removably connect to the adjustable strap; and to adjust the size of the neck opening. The non-choking harness completely opens up for easy access in fitting the pet.

Abstract: An animal leg cover particularly useful for dogs, but may be useful for other pets as well. The cover has a tubular section with an open end, a closed end and an outer surface. The tubular section is made from a material that has a waterproof elastomeric material layer that faces inwardly and a fabric layer bonded to the elastomeric layer facing outwardly. The lower closed end has a gripping portion of elastomeric waterproof material on its outer surface. The tubular section has overlapping flaps that are closed with a zipper. The leg cover provides a waterproof protective barrier that may be worn over a cast or other wound.

Abstract: A belt assembly with perforations formed around the entire length of the belt assembly and with a fastening device that is configured to be moved with respect to selected proximate perforations to adjust the assembly. In addition, decorative clips can be to be inserted into perforations formed around the entire length of the belt assembly. Strips can also be attached to the belt assembly. The decorative clips comprise various shapes comprising stars, moons, dogs, letters, feet and hands.

Abstract: A flexible loop for restraining animals during handling such as during grooming or examination or operation or in bath tubs with a swivel snap closure mechanism or fixed means at its top and, at the bottom of the flexible loop, fixed means. The loop is suitable for attachment to a grooming arm or to tethers to cross-tie the animal in place. The fixed means is preferably a D-ring.

Abstract: Devices and methods for aiding in the lifting and transporting of an animal are disclosed. More specifically, devices and methods are provided that may be applied to an animal in need of mobility assistance, such as a dog, the devices further being adapted for human interaction. In particular, a hip member and a chest member are provided that have handles designed for interaction with human hands. The chest member and the hip member may be selectively interconnected to each other with an interconnection member. The chest member may include an upper portion, shoulder pads, a chest pad, a center cross member, and an adjustable strap. The hip member may include an upper portion, an adjustable sling, and adjustable straps. Methods are provided for assisting an animal with ingress into a vehicle.

Abstract: Leash attachments designed to reduce the tangling of a pet leash around the hind legs of a pet during a walk are provided. The leash attachment can be a rearward leash positioner comprising a strap configured to secure around the torso of a pet. A leash guide member attached to the strap is designed to reposition the fall point of a leash to a position that is rearward of its fall point in the absence of the leash positioner.

Abstract: A non-choking harness for a pet which evenly distributes stress throughout the chest area and away from the neck area of the pet when the leash is pulled to prevent choking. A center portion of the body part substantially covers the chest area of the pet. Abstract: A stabilizing belt for use by a pair of riders riding a vehicle in tandem to provide a means for the back rider to stabilize himself or herself during the ride, the stabilizing belt comprising a pad, a belt to wrap around the pad and secure the pad to a wearer, and a pair of handles attached to the pad. The pad may be uniquely contoured to provide support and comfort for the wearer. A strap may be provided for added security and comfort. The belt may further comprise handle supports for reinforcement, a cover for durability, and a pocket for versatility.

Abstract: A stabilizing belt for use by a person in need of assisted mobility, the stabilizing belt comprising a pad, a belt to wrap around the pad and secure the pad to a wearer, and a pair of handles attached to the pad. The pad may be uniquely contoured to provide support and comfort for the wearer, either the caregiver or the person in need of assisted mobility. A strap may be provided for added security and comfort. The belt may further comprise handle supports for reinforcement, a cover for durability, and a pocket for versatility.

Abstract: A pet washing restraint including hollow support member, preferably having a pyramid-like shape and also having a base end and a distal end, the support member tapering from the base end. Spaced apart suction members are connected to, and face away from, the base end and are adapted for releasable attachment to an upright wall surface of a bathing tub. A pet torso-engaging strap is attached to, and extends from the distal end for engagement around a torso of the pet. The support member is sized in length to position and restrain the pet held within the strap encircling the torso of the pet from substantial movement centrally within the bathing tub. A second restraint acting together in side-by-side fashion may also be provided for enhanced pet movement control.

Abstract: An improved canine flotation apparatus that uses a segmented panel construction and varying densities of foam within the panels of the apparatus to comfortably and evenly float canines of a wide variety of weights and dimensions. The chest yoke panel and belly panel cradles the canine in the apparatus, helping to keep the head above water. The chest yoke panel further provides a measure of insulation around the heart and lungs, permits easier lifting of the canine due to the more secure fit and facilitates more natural movement by the canine in the water.

Abstract: A device to safeguard a horse in a horse carrier or trailer includes a harness (25,26) on the horse and the safety belts (28-31) affixed to the walls of the carrier (14-16) at the level of the breast of the horse. The harness is fastened around the breast and secured around the withers and ribcage so that its connecting device (44) is situated at the level of the breast of the horse. The horse is lead into the trailer or carrier and preferably tethered, before, standing in front of the horse, one affixes the harness to the safety belts.

The adjustable strap removably connects a first torso end to a second torso end, and adjusts the size of the torso opening to provide a comfortable fit. The connection part is configured to removably connect to the two neck ends, removably connect to the adjustable strap; and to adjust the size of the neck opening. At least one D-ring for attaching a leash is fixedly attached to the connection part.

Abstract: A diaper is provided for a domesticated animal and includes a first portion and a second portion, each sized based on a circumference of a waist of the animal. The diaper includes a third portion to link the first portion and the second portion, and is sized based on a second distance from a location on a back of the animal within the circumference to a location on an underside of the animal within the circumference of the waist. The diaper further includes a hole formed within the third portion to pass the tail of the animal. A first edge of the tail opening is positioned based on a first distance from the back location to the first edge of the tail, and a second edge of the tail opening is positioned based on a mid-point of the second distance.

Abstract: A device for protecting the skin of an animal from damage, abrasion and/or moisture is provided. A first version includes an elastic portion band attached to a protective sheet. The elastic band in combination with the protective sheet encircles an animal limb above a hock. The elastic band is optionally detachably attachable to the protective sheet by means of a hook and loop fastener, a zipper assembly, a button and buttonhole combination, or other detachable attachment means. A moisture absorbent material may be attached to and disposed between the protective sheet and the animal limb. The absorbent material may be a wicking material, such as a moisture wicking fleece. The protective sheet may be asymmetric as positioned about a sagittal plane central to the hock. The protective sheet may be partially curved to form a cup shape for at least partially enclosing the hock.

Abstract: A cat harness includes a unitary piece of material with a shape that has a central spine portion with a length and a width, where the width is at least about 60% of the length, a waistband extending generally perpendicular to an imaginary longitudinal line passing along the length of the central spine portion and a collar extending from the central spine portion at an acute angle to an extent of the imaginary longitudinal line passing along the length of the central spine portion. The cat harness also includes an attachment loop coupled to the central spine portion.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for an animal harness and restraint system is provided. An animal restraint is created from a single continuous piece of cord in which a loop is fashioned in the rope approximately half way from each free end of the rope. Beginning with the loop placed over the rear neck area of an animal above its shoulders, each free end of the rope is brought around opposite sides of the animal neck, down the chest of the animal with several twists of the rope combining both free ends then separating. Each free end of the rope is then brought separately around the front leg of the animal to meet the loop with each end being pulled there through and to the rear of the animal to fashion a leash. The free ends may be wrapped twice through the looped portion to fashion a simple prusik-like friction means to secure the thus fashioned harness but allows slipping of the rope as may be desirable as the animal moves.

Abstract: A pet safety collar especially for cats comprisesan elongate resilient flexible cord element (11) formed into a coil having a plurality of randomly over-lapping turns, the ends of the element (11) being free. In use, the coils can be opened to allow the collar to be fitted around the neck of an animal, whereupon the collar recovers it shape. In the event that the collar becomes trapped, the coil expands allowing the animal to be freed.

Abstract: My invention relates to pet collars generally. Its object is to improve the safety and utility of pet collars. A further object is to improve the marketability of pet collars. Another object of the collar is to provide enhanced visibility of the pet at all hours of the day and night. The pet collars presently designed are dull, dark and do not provide an enhanced safety feature for dogs.

Abstract: A dog “canine” collar manufactured as a continuous band of 100% silicone designed to stretch over the dogs head then revert to its original size once placed around its neck thereby providing proper, comfortable fit.

Abstract: A dog harness includes a harness body that has a first end for placement proximate the shoulders of the dog and an opposing second end for placement proximate the hindquarters of the dog. The first end has a pair of first flaps and the second end having a pair of second flaps. The harness includes a first looped strap securely attached to one of the second flaps, with the first strap including a first part of a side release buckle. A second strap is securely attached to the other of the second flaps, with the second strap including a second part of the side release buckle that interlockingly engages the first part. The harness includes a front strap in the form of a loop that is securely attached at a first end to one of the first flaps and has a loop portion that is coupled to a first coupling member that is securely attached to the other of the first flaps. A free second end of the front strap is coupled to a second coupling member through which a portion of the front strap proximate the first end passes.

Abstract: A harness for a quadruped animal including a chest strap which in use of the harness lies across the chest of the animal in front of the forelegs, the harness including an attachment for a leading strap, the attachment being slidably mounted on the chest strap for movement therealong. Each end of the chest strap is attached to a trunk loop which in use of the harness passes around the trunk of the animal behind the forelegs. The trunk loop includes a back strap which in use of the harness lies across the back of the animal affixed to a lower strap which in use of the harness passes under the animal behind the forelegs.

Abstract: A harness for inhibiting an animal from straining against a leash and inducing the animal to come to a halt or to a walk or run at a pace acceptable to the animal handler is provided. The harness may include a longitudinal strap having a set of loop straps extending from the longitudinal strap for placing around the body of the animal. Each loop strap in the set of loop straps may be adjustable to fit the size of the animal on which it is placed so that the harness may be suitable for animals of varying sizes. A continuous cord may be secured to the set of loop straps defining a front restraining member and a back restraining member. Pulling upwards on the cord causes the front and back restraining members to pull inward applying pressure to the front and back legs of the animal to restrain the animal.

Abstract: An animal leg cover that has two tubular portions that fit securely over two legs, front or rear, of an animal and is secured in place a strap over the animal's body. The cover can be comprised of two separate removably connected straps.

Abstract: A wrap device is configured for use as a pet garment having a receptacle for receiving a treatment element that can be used to provide warmth or cooling. The wrap device contains a leash-fastening assembly comprised of a ring attached to the outer side of the wrap. In one embodiment, an opening in the wrap receives said ring wherein the ring extends through the opening when the wrap is placed around a limb, torso or other body part of the pet. In another embodiment, the leash-fastening assembly may be comprised of a ring attached to a part of the wrap that is accessible after the wrap is placed on the pet.

Abstract: A pet strap formed of a transparent material, such as plastic or synthetic rubber, with photoluminescent or phosphorescent colored pigment homogeneously dispersed within and incorporated into the elastometric material. The preferred photoluminescent is strontium oxide aluminate or strontium barium aluminate, which emit a yellow-green light. The strap may be disposed to encircle the neck of the pet as a conventional collar with a buckle and strap end retainers. The strap may also be made in various dimensions suitable for pets of all sizes, and may be configured to be trimmed to the desired size. Another embodiment of the pet strap includes a light reversion strip and an underlying or encased fabric reinforcing strip encased within the elastomeric strap adjacent the bottom side of the strap that contacts the pet. The light reversion strip will allow available light to charge the luminescents more proficiently for better performance.

Abstract: A collar for animals includes chain links produced from a sheet-metal blank and by bending the sheet-metal blank about bending lines. The chain links each have a hook portion and a hook-in portion. The hook-in portion includes a window dimensioned such that the hook portion fits through the window. The hook-in portion further has an edge portion located between the window and a rear end of the chain link. The sheet-metal blank includes a first end portion and an opposite second end portion, and the second end portion limits the edge portion.

Abstract: A novel animal collar includes an outer sleeve, and an inner band of absorbent material positioned within the outer sleeve that may be used to receive and temporarily retain liquids, and then diffuse vapor from that liquid, for various purposes. A series of holes are defined on an outer surface of the outer sleeve, positioned on the side of the collar that faces away from the animal's skin, in order to provide access for a user to apply liquid droplets through the holes directly to the absorbent layer. This collar may be used in conjunction with such substances as perfumes or colognes, insect repellants (including flea and tick treatments), germicides, and the like.

Abstract: A pair of closed endless elastic rings connected to each other by a length adjustable band lifts the bases of the ears of a floppy eared pet, away from the pet's head and away for the openings to the pet's ear canals to reduce problems of the ear canals such as bacterial and fungal growth.

Abstract: A head harness for walking dogs includes a nosepiece member attached to distal ends of at least one reins member having an attached leash ring, and the nosepiece further being connected to two short connecting straps. A chin strap, a neck collar with a release buckle, and the two short straps are linked at the free ends by a ring connecting means. The reins members are slidingly connected proximal the two distal ends.

Abstract: This system comprises a platform used as a restraint for animals and pets which design is based on an umbrella like motion to collapse and expand for easy use, transport and storage. The platform will connect to any readily available generic harness having a ventral strap, collar strap, and girth strap which by the design of these components provides a secure point of connection between the animal's or pet's front legs and the center of the platform. The platform is circular in form with a centered connection point that uses the animal's own weight and position to prevent free movement. The animal or pet can sit or stand but is limited in directional movement by the connection between the platform and the harness.

Abstract: A dog harness is comprised of a torso strap positioned across the lower shoulders of a dog, connected to a chest strap passing around the chest of a dog, and a shoulder strap passing over the back of a dog. The chest strap is provided with a limited slip loop. A leash connector is fixed to the limited slip loop. When a leash is attached to the leash connector, a directional pull on the leash causes the leash connector to slide in the direction of the pull, pulling the limited slip loop to the side and moving the pull off the center of the dog's chest, thus decreasing the opposition reflex.

Abstract: An animal training apparatus is comprised of a leash connector attached to a chest portion of a harness. The harness is arranged to prevent the leash connector from shifting to the back of the animal. The harness is preferably comprised of a chest strap for positioning across the chest of the animal between the tops of the front legs, a withers strap for positioning across the withers of the animal behind the neck and between the shoulders, and a girth strap for positioning across the girth of the animal behind the front legs on the underside. The leash connector is attached to an intermediate position on the chest strap for pulling on the chest portion of the harness. The animal is prevented by the rotational force from pulling further.
