  • Patent number: 6681723
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for heating hot water. The present apparatus utilizes at least two individual hollow conduits that pass through the interior of a hot water tank. Independent inshot gas burners mounted in the conduits pass hot air through the hollow conduits warming the water surrounding the conduits. The conduits are organized in the interior of the tank in such a manner as to create distinct differential temperature zones. Each such temperature zone has an associated hot water outlet. The inshot burners are regulated to maintain the temperature zones. In this manner, the user is able to utilize the advantages of an internal coil heating system but has the ability to draw steady supplies of water of varying temperatures from the tank which is critical for many modern residential and commercial hot water and hydronic systems.

  • Patent number: 4869208
Abstract: A modular fluid storage and heating system is provided which includes a plurality of different, interconnectable tank components of standardized dimensions such as fluid storage tanks, closure caps, and heater assemblies. Each of the tank components is sufficiently compact in size to pass through standard-sized corridors and doorways to permit assembly on site of a fluid storage and heating system configured specifically to the needs of a particular user. Because each of the tank components is of a standard size, fluid storage and heating systems may be constructed from standard-sized rather than from custom-sized components, thereby reducing considerably the expense and time associated with construction of such systems.

  • Patent number: 4685426
Abstract: A shop assembled modular steam generator wherein each module includes top supported pressure parts, casing, and a frame structure. These modules are readily transported to a remote construction site and interconnected. Each of the superheater, high pressure boiler, intermediate pressure boiler, low pressure boiler, and economizer sections of the generator comprise separate center and end modules whose casings are joined to provide a gas tight flow path around the pressure parts.

  • Patent number: 4641606
Abstract: A furnace having a fire box at one end of a multi-unit cell boiler receives combustible refuse and delivers hot combustion gases through passages between water cells of the multi-unit cell boiler. The combustion gases enter an exhaust stack at the far end of the boiler after giving up most of their contained heat to the water circulating through the cells. Simultaneously, water flows through the base of the boiler on a circuitous path from its end adjacent to the exhaust stack toward the furnace and through cooling walls of the furnace and then through a holding tank to a pump which delivers the water to a header communicating with the cells of the boiler unit most distant from the furnace. The water being pumped into the cells is preheated to boost the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Steam generated in the boiler enters a steam header connected with the cell boiler unit nearest the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4126105
Abstract: Boilers with horizontal boiler sections contain in each section several heat exchanger elements for transferring the heat from the heating medium to the heat carrier medium. They have the inherent advantage of needing a connection between sections only on one side so that the dimensional changes during operations are easily equalized and no thermal stresses occur. Heretofore, it has been assumed that the frame of such horizontal boiler sections in which the heat exchanger elements in the form of pipes are secured must be provided with a cooling channel for the liquid heat carrier medium, and consequently the specific heat output in relation to the amount of material used for the construction of the boiler section was considerably decreased. The boilers with horizontal sections in accordance with the invention overcome this problem and require only a reduced specific amount of material as compared with the known boilers of this type.

  • Patent number: 4022162
Abstract: A boiler which is primarily designed for the central heating of apartments has two separable elements constituted by the boiler furnace and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger of single-unit construction surmounts a completely open section of the boiler furnace and carries a gas or fuel-oil burner, the flame of which is directed away from the internal surface of the heat exchanger and follows a curved path within the combustion chamber. Except for the open section which carries the exchanger, the boiler furnace is completely surrounded by a jacket for the circulation of heat-transporting fluid.
