Inductor Type Patents (Class 123/149A)
  • Patent number: 5172675
Abstract: The internal combustion engine has a battery and a magneto for an ignition system of the engine. The magneto has a charge coil and a source coil for generating a first alternating current and a second alternating current, respectively. The alternating current is rectified and the rectified current is supplied to the battery for charging. The second alternating current is supplied to electric loads to be operated by the engine.

  • Patent number: 4706640
Abstract: A magnetic ignition system with an ignition coil primary circuit having an ignition switch is controlled by a control switch to break at a given ignition time so that an ignition voltage is induced in the secondary circuit. A signal is delivered by a control circuit between the voltage supply and earth via resistors to a control switch at the ignition time. The control circuit serves the functions of voltage limiting and prevention of double spark (retriggering).

  • Patent number: 4483306
Abstract: A magneto for two-cycle engines comprises a rotor provided with a magnet and a pair of poles, and a stationary assembly including a U-shaped iron core having a pair of legs and an ignition coil wound around one of the legs. The magnetic circuit provided by the pair of core legs, the pair of poles and the magnet includes a magnetic path through the other leg which path is given an increased magnetic resistance by a gap portion. The gap portion is formed in the end face or a side face of the other leg or in one of the poles in the end face thereof opposed to the other leg.

  • Patent number: 4452199
Abstract: An ignition circuit according to the present invention has the properties of trigging, i.e. releasing the spark at a predetermined point behind the top of the primary voltage (the ignition generator voltage). During the ascending primary voltage the ignition switch (12) is conducting while a capacitor voltage (U.sub.K) is developed. When the primary voltage has passed its top value a potential difference to the capacitor voltage (U.sub.K) is created, which is used for the control of the switch to make it break. By the interruption of the primary current an ignition voltage is induced at duty r.p.m. in an ignition coil (11). At an extremely high r.p.m. the ignition is delayed behind the voltage top whereby the induced voltage will be too low for ignition. Too high an r.p.m. is thereby avoided.

  • Patent number: 4336785
Abstract: A magneto ignition system having inherent means for providing operating biases for components thereof at temperature extremes is disclosed. The disclosed ignition system includes an ignition coil (10) having primary and secondary coil (12, 14) a solid state or semiconductor switch (24) being connected across the primary coil (12) for switching the current therein, and drive and trigger coils (20, 34). The semiconductor switch (24) is driven toward a nonconductive state, to cause an ignition impulse in the secondary coil, by semiconductor latching device (32) which shunts the signal from the drive coil (20) to ground (38). The semiconductor latching device (32) is activated by a trigger coil (34), having a separate magnetic flux path.In order to provide reliable switching at extremes of ambient temperature, means (22) responsive to the common magnetic field of the primary coil, the secondary coil, and the drive coil are provided to effectively provide operating bias to the latching device (32).

  • Patent number: 3955166
Abstract: A pulse producing device has an E-shaped core with an input winding and an output winding, so that flow of flux between the limbs of the core produces an output in the windings. The flow of flux is controlled by parts rotating close to the limbs, and these parts are formed on a rotatable plate the periphery of which is split and deformed to provide two rows of tags, one row passing close to the central limb and one of the outer limbs and the other row passing close to the central limb and the other outer limb.
