Includes Friction Means In Linkage Patents (Class 123/185.8)
  • Patent number: 9347416
Abstract: A vehicle engine starting device includes a drive starter gear provided on an output shaft of a transmission and a driven starter gear provided on a crankshaft of an engine are meshed, not only is it possible to start the engine by cranking the crankshaft by means of the driving force transmitted from a driven wheel without requiring a starter motor, but it is also possible to prevent the dragging of the transmission since the driving force is not transmitted to the crankshaft via the transmission. Further, since the gear ratio of the drive starter gear and the driven starter gear is set so that the rotational speed of the crankshaft attains a rotational speed that can start the engine when the vehicle speed reaches a predetermined vehicle speed for starting the engine, it is possible to reliably start the engine by cranking the crankshaft at an optimum speed.

  • Patent number: 8770164
Abstract: A combustion engine can be started by means of a starting device. During the starting operation attendant with the starting device driving the vehicle this drive is also effected by energizing a clutch which connects the combustion engine via a transmission to the wheels L of the vehicle. By utilizing the starting device for the starting operation also for meanwhile driving the vehicle and/or accelerating same, a faster and/or more gradual drive/acceleration of the vehicle is realized.

  • Publication number: 20090151684
Abstract: A starter arrangement for an internal combustion engine the arrangement including a starter motor having a pinion gear coupled to an output shaft, the pinion gear being arranged in constant engagement with a corresponding crank gear of a crank wheel located between an engine block and a flywheel of the engine. The crank wheel is operatively coupled to a crankshaft of the engine via a one-way clutch unit loosely fitted to an end of the crankshaft, the crankshaft including a circumferential slot carrying a clip ring. The one-way clutch unit including a tube shaped hub loosely fitted to an end of the crankshaft, the axial movement of the one-way hub is fixed via a clip-ring in co-operation with a first axially delimiting member and a second axially delimiting member at least partially enclosed by the hub.

  • Patent number: 6325036
Abstract: A starting and stopping device for an internal combustion engine includes an energy storing device including at least one elastic member. The elastic member is loaded in response to rotation of a main shaft, and the main shaft rotates in an unloading direction in response to unloading of the elastic member. A locking mechanism selectively prevents the elastic member from unloading from a loaded state by preventing the shaft from rotating in the unloading direction. A clutch mechanism is operatively disposed between the main shaft and the locking mechanism to permit rotation of the shaft in the unloading direction when a preselected torsional threshold between the shaft and the locking mechanism is reached.

  • Patent number: 6247439
Abstract: To provide a starter for an internal combustion engine which is capable of reducing a press-fit amount of a press-fit portion of a torque absorbing mechanism of a rotation transmitting means for transmitting the rotation of a kick shaft to a crank shaft, thereby enhancing the durability of the starter and making the starter compact. A kick-type starter for an internal combustion engine includes a rotation transmitting mechanism (a kick drive gear, a boss having a ratchet portion, a pinion gear, and an idler gear) for transmitting the rotation of a kick shaft to a crank shaft. The rotation transmitting mechanism is provided with a torque absorbing mechanism for absorbing an excessive torque due to an excessive input from the kick shaft. The torque absorbing mechanism is provided on the kick shaft, and includes a gear set composed of the boss having the ratchet and the pinion gear which are press-fitted to each other.
