Publication number: 20020069854Abstract: A control mechanism functions as a dual stage controller that is alternately and independently responsive to engine oil pressure and intake manifold pressure to adjust fuel delivery by one or more unit pumps. Engine oil pressure is delivered as a control input to one end of a piston bore. Manifold air pressure acts on a diaphragm to deliver another control input which acts on a control piston disposed for reciprocation in the bore. The diaphragm and associated control rod are axially opposed to the end of the bore to which engine oil pressure is delivered. During engine start up, oil pressure is low and a spring bias moves the control piston in a direction to increase fuel delivery. During start up, the control piston position is dependent upon engine oil pressure independent of manifold air pressure. After start up, the control piston position is a function of manifold air pressure independent from engine oil pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2001Publication date: June 13, 2002Inventors: Derrick W. Patent number: 5148789Abstract: In a governor device of a diesel engine, a control rack of a fuel injection pump is adapted to be controllably actuated by a balance between a governor spring and an engine revolution speed responsive means. A speed control member is adapted to be manipulated for adjusting a tension force of the governor spring. A fuel limiting actuation member serves to prevent an excessive fuel flow from being injected when the speed control member is manipulated for a quick acceleration. A quick acceleration state detecting means serves to detect a quickly accelerated state of the engine so as to selectively change over the fuel limiting actuation member to a fuel limiting position and to a fuel limitation cancelling position depending on the lapse of time.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1990Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Yasunori Shiraishi, Masahiro Nagahama, Mutsumi Murata, Yuzo Umeda, Setsuo Yamada, Kazuyoshi Morioka

Patent number: 4690115Abstract: A mechanical engine governor includes a gear driven input shaft and an output shaft. A fly-weight assembly is mounted on the input shaft to apply a torque to the output shaft which varies as a function of the rotational speed of the input shaft. An output plate assembly is secured to the output shaft to rotate with the output shaft and is coupled to a fuel metering device such as a fuel injection system for a diesel engine. A stop plate is mounted to rotate about the output shaft, and a spring is mounted between the output plate assembly and the stop plate. At engine speeds below 500 RPM this spring rotates the output plate assembly with respect to the stop plate to provide increased fuel delivery to the engine during engine start up. At speeds greater than 500 RPM the stop plate insures that the governor commands no more than a predetermined maximum continuous fuel flow to the engine.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1985Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Assignee: Hoof Products Co.Inventors: James H. Patent number: 4586470Abstract: A centrifugal speed governor, functioning as a minimum-maximum-speed governor, includes an adjusting member which is pivotable for adjusting the supply quantity, and the governor rod of the associated injection pump is adjustable via an intermediate lever by means of the adjusting member and a governor spring which is displaceable counter to the force of associated governor springs. The travel of the governor rod is limited in the direction of an increasing supply quantity by a governor rod stop including a starting spring. With the adjusting member resting on an end stop, the governor rod is pressed away from a basic test position (P) into its full-load position (V), and the differential travel (.DELTA.R) thereby resulting is absorbed by an accumulator in the governor linkage, preferably in the governor sleeve. The deflection stroke (A) of the accumulator is only slightly longer than that required to compensate for the differential travel (.DELTA.R).Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1985Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Horst Klinger, Werner Lehmann, Michael Zeuch

Patent number: 4453520Abstract: A liquid fuel pumping apparatus includes a centrifugal weight mechanism 14 which is coupled to a fuel control member through a lever. A spring is provided to oppose the action of the weight mechanism and this is coupled through a lever having an adjustable pivot point, to the lever through a closure member carried about an axially movable member coupled to the weight mechanism.
