  • Patent number: 9097170
Abstract: An exhaust manifold is covered by a manifold heat shield cover and an exhaust pipe is directed downward from the exhaust manifold. In such an engine, a cooling fan is disposed on a front portion of the engine and the exhaust pipe is positioned on the air flow path of the cooling fan. An auxiliary component heat shielding plate is directed from the manifold heat shield cover along a back side of the exhaust pipe. An auxiliary engine component is disposed beneath the manifold heat shield cover on a back side of the auxiliary component heat shielding plate. Between the exhaust pipe and a cylinder block, an air flow guide plate provides an air flow space between the air flow guide plate and the cylinder block. A cooling air flow passing through the air flow space is thus supplied to the auxiliary engine component.

  • Patent number: 8863704
Abstract: A liquid-cooling engine system is described with a coolant control device having an adjustable control element capable of independently controlling the flow of coolant through a cylinder head and cylinder block. The device contains a rotatable drum that can be rotated along its longitudinal axis to expose holes and thereby allows coolant circulation based on a temperature within the engine system. The coolant control device has three positions but may also be fine-tuned within each position to control the flow of coolant through the cylinder head and cylinder block in order to adjust the amount of heat extracted according to demand, which serves to control the liquid-type cooling circuit in a demand-dependent manner that accounts for the operating modes of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 8490585
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable, hand-held work apparatus such as a chain saw, a cut-off machine, a brush cutter or the like with an air cooled combustion engine. A cooling air blower (4) which includes a cooling air spiral (6) and a fan wheel (5), moves a cooling air flow (13) for cooling the combustion engine. Further a combustion air channel (30) leads from the cooling air blower (4) to the combustion engine (2) and branches off from an air output window (20) provided in the base (14) of the cooling air spiral (6). The diverting device (21) includes a guide wall (22) which extends into the cooling air spiral (6) between the fan wheel (5) and the air output window (20). In order to divert a large volume of combustion air (19) with minimal disruption to the cooling air flow, the pass-through cross-section of the air output window (20) tapers in the direction of the diverted combustion air (19) from a first pass-through area (29) to a second pass-through area (31).

Abstract: An engine generator is disclosed in which an engine drives a generator and causes a cooling fan to rotate to cool the generator. The generator includes an intake duct having an intake port provided in a lower portion thereof and oriented downward. Moisture-containing outside air sucked through the intake port impinges on a barrier plate disposed in the intake duct. The barrier plate is located above the intake port and faces the intake port. • Publication number: 20080006228
Abstract: An engine that has expandable cylinders receives its pressure from a steam boiler or any other expanding, external gases, and/or liquid devices. The motor or pump is made of, encased, reciprocating spheres and toroidal cavities that are located in the outer wheels allowing said balls to cam in and out, rotating the said outer wheels. The steam, gases or liquid is presented under pressure at the intake sliding type valve of the motor and the cam action of the piston (balls) creates a closed chamber which causes the chambers (cylinders) to expand and the outer wheels to turn. A sliding exhaust valve then opens up to expel the expended material (steam) aided by the balls. The balls are then cammed to the opposite side creating a seal for that chamber and the action repeats. A pressurized lubricant is introduced via the ball tubes enhancing the chamber seals. The outer wheels are surfaced to the middle block at a close tolerance to make a lubricated seal.
