    Abstract: The invention relates to a cylinder head (1) of an internal combustion engine with a camshaft bearing mechanism (2) situated thereon in which a hollow camshaft (3) is rotatably mounted, forming an outlet for discharging blow-by gases laden with oil droplets out of the crankcase and is designed as an oil droplet separator for separating the oil content out of these gases. The camshaft (3) passes through a valve space (11). A rocker cover (13) or a multichannel device (27) is connected axially to at least one end of the camshaft (3), forming an axial gap (9), each having a channel (10) connected coaxially to the hollow space (5) of the camshaft (3) so that blow-by gases from which the oil has been removed can be discharged from the camshaft (3), and each being designed so that they either form an oil collecting space (12) that is sealed with respect to the valve space (11) or they introduce oil that has been separated into such an oil collecting space (12).

The distance between the distal ends of one fork and the semicircular portion of the opposite fork is selected to allow lateral sliding disengagement of the clamp from one of the adjacent injectors without rotation or removal of the other injector to facilitate servicing of individual injectors.

    Abstract: A valve cover fastener includes a bolt including an elongated threaded rod and a bolt head. The rod has a bottom end and a top end. The bolt head is integrally coupled to the top end. A nut is threadably coupled to the rod such that the nut is positioned between the bolt head and the bottom end of the rod. The bottom end of the bolt may be extended through a valve cover and a gasket and threadably coupled to an engine block so that the nut abuts the gasket. A spring is positioned on the bolt. The spring has a generally frusto-conical shape. An upper end of the spring has a smaller diameter than the bolt head. The upper end abuts the bolt head and the lower end abuts the gasket such that the spring biases the gasket away from the bolt head.

    Abstract: A sealed cover assembly for a fluid-containing cavity of an engine includes a cover including a fluid-containing wall with a peripheral edge having a sealing surface adapted to oppose a corresponding sealing surface of the engine, and a plurality of mounting openings in the peripheral edge; a reaction pad adjacent each of the openings and disposed at the peripheral edge on an opposite surface of the sealing surface around a perimeter defining the cover; a brace disposed against the reaction pad around the perimeter defining the cover; and mechanical fasteners extending through the reaction pad and the brace for securing the cover to a mating edge of the engine cavity, the fasteners when engaged providing substantially equal compression forces on the reaction pad via the brace and supporting the cover sealing surface with a predetermined gap from the cavity mating edge for engagement with a compliant sealing material disposed between the surfaces.

    Abstract: A cylinder deactivation arrangement for an engine is provided. The arrangement includes an engine with main oiling circuit passages and lifter oil gallery control circuit passages formed internal to a cylinder block of the engine. The lifter oil gallery control circuit is arranged so as to provide an oil flow path internal to the cylinder block from the main oiling circuit to the deactivating lifter. A lifter is positioned in the cylinder block and arranged in fluid communication with the lifter oil gallery control circuit. A control valve is positioned in the cylinder block and arranged in fluid communication with the main oiling circuit and the lifter oil gallery control circuit. The control valve is arranged to allow selective fluid communication of oil from the main oiling circuit to the lifter oil gallery control circuit to selectively control actuation of the lifter.

    Abstract: An internal combustion engine is provided with at least two cylinder banks whose cylinder heads are sealed by cylinder head covers. To ventilate the crankcase from the blow-by gases, ventilation lines are connected to the cylinder head covers and communicate with a negative pressure source, e.g., an intake pipe. The inside of the cylinder head cover is provided with structure for pre-separating the oil from the blow-by gases. An oil separation chamber is equipped with an inlet and an outlet opening, each as a part of the crankcase ventilation in the cylinder head covers. The oil separation chambers communicate with the respective camshaft space through their inlet openings. This arrangement ensures reliable crankcase ventilation in which a portion of the oil carried along by the blow-by gases can already be separated in the cylinder head cover and returned to the camshaft spaces.
