Abstract: A crossbow trigger whose features include only a unitary leaf spring, without the help of coiled springs, whose four end portions clamp a crossbow bolt on a crossbow stock, bias the crossbow's sight, bias the crossbow's finger lever, and prevent accidental disengagement of the crossbow's trigger safety. A stop plate is provided on the crossbow trigger's sear to automatically provide a proper space between the rear end of a crossbow bolt and the portion of the bowstring held by the cocked trigger.
Abstract: This device is a spear gun for underwater fishing and is operated by a reservoir of compressed air. A reservoir is maintained in an elongate gun barrel within which a slidable piston is located between the pneumatic valve end the other or spear discharge end. A shock absorbing cushion is provided at the discharge end of the gun barrel for stopping the travel of the piston without damage. A gun stock is secured over the gun barrel adjacent the discharge end, and remote from the valve end. The spear rod is provided with a conically reduced portion leading to an abrupt radial shoulder against which shoulder a V-shaped lock is pivoted in the bottom of the spear gun to abutting position to hold the spear in position ready for firing. An L-shaped sear is pivoted to a trigger rod slidably reciprocable through bearings for releasably engaging the V-shaped lock.
Abstract: A launching device for propelling a football into an airborne trajectory with the football pointed forwardly and rotating about its longitudinal axis similar to a forward pass in the game of football. The launching device includes a spring-biased, retractable catapult arm with a ball-holding basket on the end thereof. The device is provided with a governor which delays the launching of the ball for a predetermined time period to allow the user to move into position for receiving the ball. The launching device includes height adjustments and spring tension adjustments for regulating the trajectory of the football. A safety interlocking mechanism is provided to prevent the launching of foreign objects. The device cannot be operated unless a football is loaded in the basket. The basket has a size, shape, orientation and edge portion which accurately simulates the trajectory of a thrown football by imparting a spiral spin to the football.
Abstract: A bow gun comprising a body having a channel disposed therein, the channel including a projectile discharge opening. A magazine chamber communicates with the channel for storing a plurality of projectiles for sequential discharge. A bow is mounted on the body, the bow carrying a bow string. An impulse slide is disposed for reciprocal movement within the channel and is operably connected to the bow string. A cocking slide is disposed for reciprocal movement in the channel to shift the impulse slide rearwardly in the channel. A manually actuable cocking lever is pivotally mounted to the gun body and is operably connected to the cocking slide. Actuation of the cocking lever effects rearward movement of the cocking slide to shift the impulse slide rearwardly toward a cocked position. A trigger is provided for retaining the impulse slide in a cocked position and for releasing the impulse slide for forward movement toward a projectile under the bias of the bow string.
Abstract: A projectile launcher includes a housing formed of releasably secured longitudinal sections. The housing defines a bore extending fore-to-aft and including a spring-carrying compartment and a projectile discharge channel. A spring tube is anchored adjacent the forward end of the bore and extends rearwardly within the bore over a reaction guide pulley. A plunger is slidably disposed within the bore and includes a projectile impact portion slidably disposed within the projectile discharge channel. A cord is fastened at one end to the spring tube and at its other end to the plunger. A cocking aperture is provided in the plunger and is operable to receive a removable cocking bar. Rearward movement of the cocking bar when disposed within the cocking aperture causes the plunger to expand the spring in an energy-storing manner. A trigger mechanism is provided at the rear of the housing to retain the plunger and the spring tube in a cocked position.
Abstract: An air rifle having a casing with a compression cylinder displaceably housed therein, and including a spring actuated piston, the cylinder having a front end wall with a transverse bore, tensioning structure for compressing the spring pivotally connected to the underside of the rifle, comprising a tension lever and a tension draw bar, the tension draw bar having a head portion projecting into the bore to enable the tension draw bar to be pivoted with respect to the axis of the bore, and plug elements supporting the head portion disposed on each side of the head portion so that the plug elements bear against the head portion and against the casing.
