Patent number: 8151473Abstract: An optical bow sight which can be accessorized with an adjustable range sighting pin or torque and cant compensation or both of these features, but is fully functional without either accessory. The optical sight has a shrouded array of fiber optics sight pins which are removable from the sight housing with their support as a single unit. The sight pins are clad in a metallic glass because of the corrosion resistance of such materials. Light collected over a wide field falls on segments of the sight pin fibers coiled in the housing of the optical unit or falls on a trap which redirects the light onto the fiber segments. A lens may optionally be employed to promote the collection of ambient light, and a shutter or variable size aperture may be provided to control the light reaching the sight pin fibers.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2008Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Inventors: Steven C. Patent number: 7614156Abstract: A bow-mounted sight unit, containing a range finder with data storage, includes an optical sight unit for viewing a target. The sight unit has a housing which supports a viewing screen. A cross-hairs member has vertical and horizontal sighting cross-hair portions and is superimposed on the viewing screen. A laser range finder member calculates the range distance to the intended target. A control member allows entering and accessing data retained by a microprocessor member and connected data storage member of the unit. Data is displayed on the viewing screen adjacent to the field of view. In operation, the microprocessor member calculates an arrow drop compensation distance automatically, using the historical arrow-drop data in conjunction with the range distance. The compensation distance is displayed in the field of view by automatic adjustment of the cross-hairs member by the microprocessor member.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2008Date of Patent: November 10, 2009Inventor: Chris D. Patent number: 7610686Abstract: A device can include a support structure to be supported on a bow and that, through other structures and components, can support a viewing part such as an archery sight. For example, the support structure and a structure movable in an elevation direction can have paired guide surfaces that slide against each other, with opposite sets of guide surfaces having effective spans within a stable range despite a user pressing on one side, as in coarse adjustment. Guide surface shapes can allow only negligible relative movement, as with V-shapes. Gibs can be on guide surfaces, with some gibs adjustable to compensate wear, such as with springs. Also, a structure movable in a windage direction can have tapered bushings around guide pins that extend through them and can receive pressure from a spring-like component such as a spring wave washer. And a removable scope mounting device can have parts allowing adjustment around two axes.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2007Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Inventors: Gregory E.
