Abstract: An oven has an enclosed heat exchange zone for use with biomass fuel. The oven has a body which is able to be placed on the ground. The body has a combustion cabinet and an auxiliary equipment cabinet. The combustion cabinet has a burner received therein. The burner has a fire grate, a side plate, a blowing space, and a hearth. A heat exchange zone is defined by the surrounding tubular inner wall; a side heating zone being defined by a tubular inner and a tubular outer walls. A chimney is formed on the tubular outer wall in communication with an upper portion of the side heating zone. An opening is defined in the top of the combustion cabinet right above the tibular inner wall.
Abstract: A grill having a bottom section and a middle section for expanding the diameter of the bottom section and at least one insert for separating the opening formed by the bottom section to allow smoking or an open fire. Different cooking surfaces are thereby a grill, a flat frying surface, an open area for receiving and holding a reservoir of water, such as a pot, and an open area for receiving a wok. There is also a hearth section for enclosing at least a portion of the exterior of the bottom section. It also envisions a smoker or ash guard expandable to fit either diameter to protect the cook and provide a surface for placing items attached to the stand apart from the heat source.
Abstract: A fire pit comprising a base assembly, the base assembly supported by a suspension assembly comprising a plurality of vertical supports, and a tower assembly disposed on a top surface of the base assembly, the tower assembly comprising a plurality of longitudinal apertures and configured to contain at least one solid fuel source. The plurality of longitudinal apertures are configured to release heat generated from the at least one solid fuel source in a substantially outward direction along at least substantially the entire length of the plurality of longitudinal apertures.
Abstract: A lightweight prefabricated masonry/steel kiva-style fireplace. The firebox is cast in three or more modular sections. The entire inner combustion chamber is lined with split refractory firebrick and an outer shell is lightweight vermiculite concrete. The center firebox section has a semi-circular concave interior and the tubular steel and mesh exterior kiva fireplace stuccoed and plastered frame facade has a semi-circular convex exterior configuration with the appearance of a sculpted adobe fireplace. The firebox damper/anchor plate provides a transition from the masonry firebox to a double-walled chimney system. The firebox can be placed in a room comer or in a chase on a flat wall. It can also be installed over wood floors, in old or new construction.
Abstract: A baking device for use in a domestic oven. The baking device is composed of refractory insulating material and includes a base and a pair of walls. The base is generally rectangular and has a pair of spaced-apart grooves formed therein. The walls are generally rectangular and have concave interior surfaces. The walls have bottom edges adapted for insertion into the grooves so as to mount the walls to the base. When the walls are mounted to the base, the baking device is generally channel-shaped, creating a partially curvilinear baking surface resembling a "c" in cross-section.
Abstract: A fireplace for food cooking having a planar member adapted to receive coals dispersed thereon and having two sides extending perpendicular therefrom on opposite sides thereof and a back extending perpendicular therefrom and between the two sides. A fireplace hood is supported on the two sides and the back. The fireplace hood has a duct extending upwardly therefrom. The duct is adapted to allow smoke to discharge from the hood. A baffle plate wall has its ends affixed to the two sides and a back side spaced from the back so as to define a hollow space therewith. The baffle plate wall is positioned between the planar member and the fireplace hood so as to define a combustion chamber and a cooking chamber. The hollow space has an upper opening and a lower opening. The lower opening defining an access mouth adapted to draw the coals in the combustion chamber.
Abstract: In a catalytic assembly having an oxidation catalytic unit disposed above the broiling area of a fat-food broiler for enabling the catalytic oxidation of volatile broiling smoke organic contaminants, a low pressure drop open-pore metallic flame-arresting filter screen disposed between the broiling area and the catalytic unit and substantially completely overlying the broiling area and containing upon the screen an adherent coating comprising a high surface area inorganic oxide adsorbent and an inorganic binder therefor, the coating serving to adhere salt, phosphorous and other catalyst-poisoning compounds in the broiling emissions. Preferred methods of coating and broiler flame-arresting use are described.
Abstract: A combustion apparatus for burning wood or coal comprises a cooking enclosure mounted above a combustion chamber enclosure. An upper space of the combustion chamber enclosure contains a combustion chamber having a floor and walls made of refractory material. The combustion chamber is closed all around except for the top. A plurality of primary air holes are provided in the floor of the combustion chamber and a plurality of secondary air holes are provided through the combustion chamber enclosure at the level of the open top of the combustion chamber. An ash pan is mounted for sliding into the combustion chamber enclosure below the combustion chamber to act as a regulator for air entering the combustion chamber enclosure. A cooking plate is pivotally mounted in the cooking enclosure so that it can be lowered into a cooking position over the open top of the combustion chamber.
Abstract: A home bakers' hearth accessory produces hearth-baked bread, pizza and the like in a common stove or range, these baked products having quality which is comparable to the breads produced in old world commercial-type bakers' ovens. An aluminum sheet formed with an upwardly extending flange on its peripheral edges contains and retains removeable quarry tiles to provide an improved means for baking perfect hearth-baked bread in a common stove or range oven.
