Abstract: A blancher includes a tank and auger. The tank has a wall defining an interior space at least partially cylindrical with end walls. The auger is in the interior space and has flights Each flight has a circumferential edge in close proximity to the wall. The flights move food product from one end to the other as the augur is turned. The auger is preferably supported by a trunnion ring extending through the end wall and as the trunnion ring turns the augur and of flights are turned. An inlet is preferably located at one end wall and located along a center line of the augur. An outlet is preferably a discharge chute extending through the other end wall. The auger preferably includes at least one lifting flight between the plurality of flights and the end, such that the lifting flight lifts the food product to the discharge chute.

Abstract: A self-cleaning, high heat transfer wood or coal stove includes an interior cylindrical squirrel-cage configured fuel grate comprised of parallel air-conducting pipes for heating forced cold air. This arrangement of pipes not only provides for a self-cleaning stove interior due to the cyclical condensation and combustion of deposited effluents produced by combustion, but also greatly enhances the heat transfer capability of the stove by increasing the surface area available for heat exchange. The cyclical condensation and combustion is effected by incrementally rotating the interior cylindrical fuel grate by turning, using a handle inserted into one of a plurality of rod sockets which reside on the front of the stove. The stove of this invention is constructed with separate doors for convenient fuel loading and ash removal, and the fuel loading door is disposed to engage the combustion chamber opening with an air-tight and secure fit.
Abstract: A wood-burning stove utilizes a volatilization chamber inserted within the combustion chamber of the stove. The volatilization chamber contains a charge of wood which is heated to drive off combustible gases and vapors. The combustible gases and vapors are thereafter burned in the combustion chamber of the stove by being passed through a layer of solid fuel w hich includes a substantial amount of charcoal residue from previous volatilized wood. The heat generated by burning the volatile material is used to produce additional volatiles as well as to heat the stove.
Abstract: A heating device comprising at least one drum open at both ends thereof. The drum is adapted to continuously rotate around a substantially horizontal axis. The device further comprises at least one burner arranged within the drum which itself comprises a nozzle positioned so as to direct a flame in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane passing through the center of the drum and an air inlet for providing oxygen to the burner. A fixed divider is provided within the drum so as to divide the interior space of the drum into a central and exterior space. The burner nozzle is positioned in the exterior space formed while the air inlet to the burner is positioned within the central space.
