Abstract: A sheet metal constructed modular pack kitchen including utility tables, sinks and cabinetry, along with an airtight wood stove and flue-mounted oven. When disassembled, the components self-store in nested relation within one another. The stove includes an airtight non-warping cook top, hollow double bottom, hinged hot water tank and supports a double-walled, damper-controlled oven and warming shelf. Slip-mounted, interlocking cook top and flue/oven sections provide a knock-down, airtight construction.
Abstract: A combustion apparatus for burning wood or coal comprises a cooking enclosure mounted above a combustion chamber enclosure. An upper space of the combustion chamber enclosure contains a combustion chamber having a floor and walls made of refractory material. The combustion chamber is closed all around except for the top. A plurality of primary air holes are provided in the floor of the combustion chamber and a plurality of secondary air holes are provided through the combustion chamber enclosure at the level of the open top of the combustion chamber. An ash pan is mounted for sliding into the combustion chamber enclosure below the combustion chamber to act as a regulator for air entering the combustion chamber enclosure. A cooking plate is pivotally mounted in the cooking enclosure so that it can be lowered into a cooking position over the open top of the combustion chamber.
Abstract: A cooking apparatus comprises a firebox for producing heat and smoke, and a smoke oven forming a cooking chamber therein. A plurality of vertically spaced shelves are disposed within the chamber for carrying food to be cooked. The shelves are rotated about a generally vertical axis. A heat shield is positioned beneath one of the shelves and above another of the shelves to retard the travel of heat to and from the space above such other shelf. First and second vertically spaced openings are provided in the chamber in communication with the firebox to conduct heat and smoke into the chamber. The first opening is disposed above the heat shield and the second disposed below the heat shield. Adjustable gates are provided for opening and closing the openings independently to regulate the passage of heat and smoke therethrough.
