  • Patent number: 5881710
Abstract: The invention is an oven door construction and assembly in which the oven door construction and its part count are greatly reduced and simplified as is the method of assembly in the door. The door is assembled by placing interior door elements on an inner liner and using the hinges of the door to compressively mount the interior door elements to the liner to thereby eliminate a great number of fasteners typically used in this type of door construction.

Abstract: A microwave oven includes a main body forming a cooking chamber, and a door hinged to the main body for opening and closing the cooking chamber. The main body includes upper and lower horizontal walls forming a top and bottom, respectively, of the cooking chamber. The door is mounted by two hinges, each hinge comprising a pivot pin carried by the door, and a hinge plate carried by the main body. Each hinge plate includes a door-connecting section and a body-connecting section interconnected by an intermediate section. All three of those sections are integrally formed on a one-piece element. The door-connecting section is at a higher elevation than the body-mounting section and includes a hole rotatably receiving the pivot pin. The body connecting section is directly connected to a respective one of the upper and lower horizontal walls. The door carries a stop element which abuts a vertical edge of a respective hinge plate when the door is in an open state.

Abstract: In a cooking device having a housing which can be closed by a door, a hinge support in the form of a slide or carriage is guided at one side wall so as to be displaceable at guide rails which are arranged horizontally at the side wall. One part of a hinge arrangement is fastened at the hinge support and the other part of the hinge arrangement is fastened to the door. The hinge support is guided at the guide rail by guide rollers which contact the guide rails in a positive engagement without play. In this way it is possible when opening the door to displace the same into a parallel position alongside the side wall.

  • Patent number: 5546927
Abstract: The oven door comprises a frame on which two panes are mounted. These two panes are parallel and spaced apart from each other. The inside pane is hinge-mounted relative to the frame by means of a hinge piece and pivatable about a hinge axis at a lateral side of the frame. Rapid-action locking and unlocking closure means, that are point spacers, are situated remote from the hinge axis of the inside pane. The spacers enable the inside pane to be held in a closed position relative to the frame. The point spacers provide rapid-action locking and unlocking the closure, and keep a space between the inside pane and the inside face of the frame when the inside pane is closed. The hinge piece includes at least one plate. The inside pane is fixed at a distance from the plate by at least one fixing point spacer in such a manner that when the inside pane is in the closed position the plate engages and bears against the inside face of the frame.

An cam mounted to the door has a lateral wall with three interconnected linear sections joined with predetermined included angles. Abstract: An automatic breadmaker has a floor, enclosing surfaces and a door which form the oven chamber. The door swings horizontally to create a front opening extending substantially to the oven floor, thus facilitating "wide-side" insertion and removal of the baking pan. When closed, the door extends upwardly from along the oven floor and rearwardly to a position directly above the pan. With the door open, insertion and removal of the pan is further facilitated by the resulting wide-mouth configuration. The pan has two driven kneading members spaced along its bottom for mixing dough. The loaf made by the new breadmaker is of normal configuration, has a risen topside extending along its length and has a size, shape and overall appearance closely resembling that of a normal bakery loaf.

Abstract: A cool multi-section oven door for use in an oven is disclosed herein. The present invention provides a plurality of pieces of glass, preferably four, each in parallel spaced relation to each other. The spaces between the pieces of glass provide channels for air flow. To provide forced air flow, a fan is positioned under the cooktop area and the air passes through the air gaps between the individual pieces of glass, thus cooling the oven door by allowing the heat to exit at the top of the door. Additionally, heat radiating fins are located on the hinges of the oven door extend into the air flow to provide further cooling.

  • Patent number: 5341542
Abstract: An anti-tip hinge device for a door or a shelf, which is pivotally moved to obtain a horizontal cantilever position. The hinge device has a channel which fits into a sheath of and is connected to the door or shelf. A lever arm carries cam followers which engage a cam in the channel. The cam is supported in the channel by a pin and a spring located on opposite ends of the cam. The cam has a recess and a ramp disposed adjacent to the recess. When an overload is applied to the cantilever end of the door or shelf, the cam followers are disengaged from the recess of the cam, and push the cam inwardly within the channel at an angle to allow the door or shelf to be titled downwardly below the horizontal. This action interrupts the counterbalance spring effect on the door. A pin-hole arrangement resets the hinge device, and a lug-slot arrangement prevents the door from disengaging the hinge device.
