Abstract: A reformer (5) which generates hydrogen-rich reformate gas by causing a catalytic reaction of fuel and air comprises a premixing chamber (12) for premixing the fuel with the air. High temperature air is supplied to the premixing chamber (12) from an air intake tube (13) via an orifice (14). A fuel injector (16) injects the fuel into the flow of the high temperature air in the premixing chamber (12) to generate fuel-air mixture. A homogenizing filter (17) homogenizes the composition of the fuel-air mixture in the premixing chamber (12) and supplies a uniform fuel-air mixture to a reforming catalyst (11).
Abstract: A gas bolt heater for loosening large bolts and studs has a hollow cylindrical housing defining a cylindrical chamber within the housing. A heating tube projecting from one end of the housing has a longitudinal bore. A first cylindrical insert closing the lower end of the chamber has a through opening communicating with the bore of the heating tube, and a second cylindrical insert located within an opposite end of the cylindrical housing has an elongate passage extending axially of the cylindrical housing. Downwardly convergent air passages in the second cylindrical insert have mouths distributed around the elongate passage, at a lower end of the passage, and an air supply duct communicates through the cylindrical housing with the air outlet passages.
Abstract: A heating device with a catalytic burner for a fuel gas is equipped with a member for regulating the thermal power. The regulating member includes a metal flap for regulating the flow of the mixture to be burned in the catalytic burner. This flap, for example a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip, can move between two positions, namely a first position in which the mixture to be burned is stored in the device or discharged in the manner of a leakage through an orifice in a wall of the heating device, and a second position which allows a maximum flow rate of the mixture to pass through the catalytic burner. The invention applies to all types of heating devices with a catalytic burner.

Abstract: A portable gas forge. The forge is comprised of a housing having an insulated interior and an opening for insertion of the article to be heated such as a horseshoe or the like. The forge is resistant to blow-out by wind when used in the field and has a specially designed burner connected to the top of the housing. The burner is connected to a source of gas such as an LP gas cylinder. A gas orifice is connected to an enlarged burner pipe having a bell-shaped primary air inlet adjacent the gas orifice. A source of secondary air is located at the exterior burner pipe connection to the housing to obtain maximum flame concentration in the housing and inhibit back flaming.
