Door-operated Patents (Class 126/340)
  • Patent number: 4862792
Abstract: The elevated, open-topped housing of a solid fuel-burning barbecue grille is provided with a hinged top lid and upper and lower swing-out doors which respectively carry horizontally disposed food and solid fuel-supporting grate structures that are moved out of and into the housing interior, through framed housing side wall openings, as the doors are opened and closed, thereby permitting food items to be placed on the upper grate, and charcoal to be placed on the lower grate, externally of the housing and without lifting the housing lid. To prevent cooking heat escape from the housing interior when the upper door is opened, a hinged flap automatically pivots downwardly to cover the upper door opening when the upper door is opened. When the upper door is closed, an interior tab member theaid vent pipe in a selected one of said open and closed positions thereof.

  • Patent number: 4814571
Abstract: A microwave oven adapted for under-counter use that eliminates many of the disadvantages of prior microwave ovens. A bottom member and transparent canopy shaped top member or cover from a microwave conductive cavity viewable from three or more sides. The bottom and top members may be hinged or slidably connected to provide maximum cavity access for food insertion. By mounting the oven on slides in a kitchen cabinet, drawer, or appliance enclosure, the oven is kept out of sight and out of the way when not in use but quickly available when needed. Lighting, venting, and viewing of the cavity and its contents is simpler, safer, easy and efficient.

  • Patent number: 4637373
Abstract: An oven includes a baking chamber defined by the inner case. The two storied upper and lower racks are provided in the baking chamber with a distance in-between. On both edges of these racks the rear end part of a U-letter shaped supporting member is fixed respectively, with the tips of said supporting members penetrating through a long hole formed horizontally at a predetermined height on the inner case. Consequently, both upper and lower racks are respectively so constructed as to move horizontally in the baking chamber. On each of both outer sides of the inner case a connecting rod is provided which is pivotally sustained at its upper end so that it can be turned round. This connecting rod is connected with the tips of the supporting member, and at its lower end it is connected through an arm with the door which pivotally opens and closes at its lower end line. By opening the door, therefore, both upper and lower racks are withdrawn forward to the opening side of the oven.

  • Patent number: 4628897
Abstract: A gas broiler for outdoor use and having two gas-fired burner tubes located within a cabinet above a broiling rack and below ceramic burner blocks. Food on the rack is broiled by heat radiating downwardly from the burner blocks. The latter are spaced above the burner tubes to reduce the carbon monoxide level in the cabinet, products of combustion being exhausted into an upper hood and then downwardly along the outer side of the cabinet. When the door of the cabinet is opened and closed, the rack is automatically pulled out of and pushed into the cabinet. A drip pan filled with water underlies the rack and catches grease dropping from the rack and the door.

  • Patent number: 4302660
Abstract: A door opening mechanism for partially opening a door on a toaster oven wherein the oven includes a thermal timer for controlling the operation of the oven in a toast mode. The door opening mechanism includes a first lever held in a first position by the timer wherein the first lever is released upon termination of the toast mode. The mechanism further includes a resiliently biased slide held in a first position by the first lever and released to a second position upon completion of the toast mode. The slide is mechanically coupled to a lever assembly that includes second and third levers and a cam lever. The third lever and the cam lever are mechanically coupled to the oven door and are resiliently held in a first position to hold the door closed and resiliently moved to a second, door open position upon release of the first lever. The mechanism turns the mode selector switch to the off position once the toast has been removed from the oven and the door closed.

  • Patent number: 4219716
Abstract: A microwave oven is disclosed which is especially useful for rapidly reconstituting frozen food products. The oven includes a microwave cavity having a bottom hatch which is movable between an open position at which food to be heated or cooked can be loaded onto the hatch from outside the oven, and a closed position whereat the food is disposed within the cavity for heating or cooking by electromagnetic energy. The hatch can be manually closed and, after a preset cooking time, automatically opened by gravity. Also disclosed is a heat shield assembly mounted for movement relative to the bottom of the cavity, so that when the hatch is in its open position and electric (IR) heat is provided to supplement microwave heating in the cavity, the assembly covers the bottom of the cavity to prevent heat from radiating below the cavity when the food is supported on or removed from the movable hatch.

  • Patent number: 4051838
Abstract: An oven having a slidable rack. A handle is connected to the rack and projects exteriorly of the oven for movement in an elongated slot in an oven side wall. Movement of the handle in the slot will enable the rack to be slid into and out of the oven chamber without touching the rack. Cooperating pins on the rack and the oven cover pivot the cover to an open position as the rack is slid forwardly by its handle to a stop position wherein the pins return to an abutting relationship to limit further movement of the rack.
