  • Patent number: 8403234
Abstract: A compact hydronic space and water heating apparatus and system is disclosed for use in a recreational vehicle. A liquid heating medium, stored within a low pressure tank, is recirculated through a gas fired heater thereby maintaining a desired set point temperature. The liquid heating medium is further circulated through the vehicles hydronic space heaters to heat the interior of the vehicle. Further fresh domestic water is passed through a heat transfer coil within the tank whereby hot domestic water may be provided. An auxiliary heating device is attached to the tank whereby hot combustion engine coolant may assist in maintaining the temperature of the liquid heating medium within the tank and/or reversed to pre heat the combustion engine if and when needed.

  • Patent number: 6866036
Abstract: A cooking heat absorber comprising a radiator assembly for absorbing heat radiated from a cooking surface and from a flue riser, on commercial surface cooking equipment and a tank assembly for holding a fluid and circulating the fluid through the radiator assembly to cool the radiator assembly and warm the fluid. The cooled radiator assembly reduces the amount of radiant heat dispersed from the surface cooking equipment and maintains a more comfortable temperature in a commercial kitchen. The tank assembly includes conduits to supply the warmed fluid, which may be water, to a water heater for reducing the energy requirements of the water heater. The tank assembly circulates a stored quantity of fluid through the radiator assembly, where the fluid is warmed, independent of any use of water from the water heater.

  • Patent number: 4250864
Abstract: A heat exchanger (10) disclosed functions as a grate for an enclosed stove and includes a front hearth section (14) of an upwardly opening U-shape including tubing for carrying a fluid to be heated. An open end of the front hearth section allows an associated stove to be stroked through a front door opening thereof as well as through a top opening of the stove. A rear flue section (20) of the heat exchanger includes tubing for carrying fluid to provide preheating thereof by flue gases prior to passage to the hearth section. Inlet and outlet tubes (24, 26) of the heat exchanger respectively supply the fluid to be heated to the flue section and receive the heated fluid from the hearth section. A central connector tube (28) preferably extends between the flue and hearth sections with grate tubes (30) of the hearth section extending from the connector tube to define the U-shape thereof and with a pair of the outlet tubes communicated with upper ends of the grate tubes.

  • Patent number: 4195617
Abstract: A wood or coal burning stove having walls defining a fire chamber with a flue disposed in one of the walls. A door provides access to the fire chamber, and a vent for controlling the combustion air is provided in the door. A manifold connected to inlet and outlet pipes passing through the walls provides for circulation of water through the fire chamber to heat the water with a fire burning in the fire chamber. Fuel supporting members extend downwardly from the manifold to support the fuel below the manifold, a number of generally U-shaped pipes with both ends of each pipe in fluid communication with the manifold providing the fuel supporting members. A baffle or like structure is provided in the manifold for preventing short-circuiting between the inlet and outlet pipes, and the manifold is supported in a generally horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 3980072
Abstract: Ventilating and cooling apparatus for cooking equipment heated by gas, oil, steam or electricity that reclaims radiant heat generated by cooking equipment by heat transfer panels through which cold water is circulated and preheated for use in hot water generating system or other system which can make use of preheated water. Heat transfer panels are positioned between the back edge of the canopy and the top of the cooking equipment and on the interior face of the canopy to collect radiant heat emitted directly and indirectly from the cooking equipment surfaces. An air passage behind the back panels serves to preheat incoming ventilation make-up air which is directed down, under and up along the front of the cooking equipment forming an air curtain and extracting heat from the body of the cooking equipment that is otherwise radiated to cooler bodies in close proximity to the heating surface.
