  • Patent number: 8499755
Abstract: A mobile kitchen comprises a housing disposed atop one or more wheel axles and a plurality of appliances disposed within the housing. Each appliance is heated by combustion of a distillate fuel. One or more air channels are disposed about each of the appliances, such that each air channel substantially isolates excess heat from combustion of the distillate fuel from a workspace within the housing. One or more first air blowers are associated with the air channels, and each is adapted to force air through the air channels and vent the excess heat to the exterior of the housing. One or more second air blowers are coupled to the housing, and each second air blower is adapted to vent a predetermined volume of air from within the workspace at least once per minute.

  • Patent number: 8230849
Abstract: An improved wall thimble as part of a venting apparatus for a heating appliance. Dual functionality is provided in a single wall thimble device by having a vent path for exhausting combustion by-products, and a separate air inlet path to draw in combustion air for use by the heating appliance. The wall thimble is preferably formed as a two-cylindrical part housing such that a first portion can be inserted into a second portion. When a smaller exhaust pipe is routed through the two-part housing, an annular region is formed between the exhaust pipe and the walls of the housing. A first air vent is formed in the first portion to draw combustion air into the annular region from outside. A second air vent is formed in the second portion to route the combustion air from the annular region out through the second air vent to be coupled with the combustion air inlet. A baffle is disposed in the first portion to preheat the combustion air.

  • Patent number: 6257230
Abstract: A gas fireplace is provided having a plenum formed around at least a portion of the fireplace firebox. Room air enters the plenum and is heated by the firebox prior to venting back into the room. Two openings are provided from the outside of the fireplace housing to the plenum. The first opening allows heated air to exit the plenum, while the second opening allows cool outside air to enter the plenum. a mechanism is provided to control the amount of heated air exiting the first opening and the amount of cool air entering the second opening. By controlling the inflow and outflow through the first and second openings, respectively, the amount of the fireplace by-products generated into the room where the fireplace is located such as carbon-monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, heat and moisture are reduced.

  • Patent number: 4633851
Abstract: A portable hot air circulator comprises concentrically mounted cylindrical members, the inner member being closed at its upper end to form a cup-like structure designed to mount over a conventional liquid fuel heater in closely-spaced relation. Air is forced downwardly through an annular passageway between the cylindrical members by a fan mounted through the top of the outer cylindrical member which is closed to form a plenum space between the tops of the concentric cylinder members. • Patent number: 4488536
Abstract: A warm air blowing heater includes combustion equipment for burning fuel, and an air duct provided at a position away from a portion directly above the combustion equipment for blowing air from the heater into the room. The combustion equipment includes a burner chimney provided above a burner, and a reflecting plate is provided behind this burner chimney. The radiation heat of the combustion equipment is radiated directly and is also reflected on the reflecting plate to heat the room. The air duct does not disturb the rise of the combustion exhaust gas of the combustion equipment to form a smooth rising exhaust gas stream. When the air is blown from the air duct toward the front of the heater, the high temperature air in the upper portion of the heater is sucked. This high temperature air is mixed with the air blown from the air duct to allow the heater to blow warm air into the room. The blower motor may suck the air in the room and supply it to the air duct.

  • Patent number: 4392478
Abstract: A heat circulation device is provided which is portable to be usable placed upon conventional space heaters and particularly upon kerosene fueled heaters which includes a plenum housing adapted to be placed upon the heater which defines a plenum chamber therein for gathering heated air. The upper surface of the plenum chamber defines a generally convex heated surface and the sidewalls of the plenum chamber include apertures therein. A main housing is located immediately above the plenum housing which is adapted to provide a flow of cool air via a blower assembly wherein this cool air is guided to travel across the convection surface to be warmed thereby and then to travel past the hot air apertures to create a suction thereagainst similar to the Venturi principle and hence draw warm air outward therefrom. In this manner the heated air being supplied into the plenum chamber from the kerosene or other heater will be re-circulated in an outwardly directed manner 360.degree.
