Abstract: The lumbar therapy belt is a therapeutic device. The lumbar therapy belt is configured for use with a patient. The patient is further defined with a torso, a spine, a pelvis, an abdomen, and a lumbar region. The lumbar therapy belt includes a belt, a fastener, and a plurality of pads. The fastener and the plurality of pads attach to the belt. The belt is a strap. The fastener attaches the belt to the patient such that the plurality of pads are positioned over the lumbar region. The plurality of pads press against the lumbar region such that the normal movement of the patient causes the plurality of pads to stretch the muscles of the lumbar region, including spinal muscles, laterally so as to relieve downward pressure on the spinal discs and nerves.
Abstract: Devices and systems to fit around a tissue or organ and methods of using the same. In at least one embodiment of an implantable device of the present disclosure, the implantable device comprises a first engaging component comprising a first rigid inner plate at least partially surrounded by a first flexible coating, a second engaging component comprising a second rigid inner plate at least partially surrounded by a coating selected from the group consisting of the first flexible coating and the second flexible coating, a first c-ring and a second c-ring coupled to the engaging components, and a cover flap coupled to either the first engaging component or the second engaging component and capable of either further coupling to the second engaging component when initially coupled to the first engaging component or further coupling to the first engaging component when initially coupled to the second engaging component.
Abstract: The present invention comprises a chest band adapted to encircle the torso of a patient after having implant surgery. The chest band couples to an arm cuff by means of an adjustable strap. The arm cuff fits loosely over the patient's arm above the elbow and is adjustable, comprising a single strap material with mating hook and loop fastener devices to allow adjustability for different sized arms. The chest band had a tapered end that over folds a second end and the tapered end includes a hook and loop faster that releasably couples directly to the fabric of the chest band. An adjustable wrist cuff includes a direct means for fastening the cuff to the chest band, or optionally, a second adjustable strap to enable selective coupling of the wrist cuff to the chest band.
Abstract: A flexible protective cover for preventing fluid from entering an open epidermal site on a user, comprising: a central portion having at least one rib, an edge connected to the central portion at an angle, a lip disposed around the edge, a sealing member disposed over the lip for providing a sealing engagement between the lip and the open epidermal site, and at least one adjustable strap removably connected to the central portion. Also disclosed is a flexible protective cover having a central portion, an edge connected to the central portion at an angle, an inflatable sealing member integral with the edge for providing the sealing engagement, and at least one adjustable strap removably connected to the central portion.
Abstract: A post amputation limb protection to be applied to newly or recently amputated transtibial, transradial or transfemoral residual limbs comprises an inner soft liner for placement on and around the limb above the end of the stump, an end pad for placement over the stump, a shell for placement over the end pad and inner soft liner, medial and lateral struts for placement along the length of the limb over the inner soft liner, attachment structures on the various components and strap closures for securing the components to the limb, and a waist belt and suspensor, for attachment to the assembly to keep the assembly in place.
Abstract: A method for preventing infection and maintaining aseptic epidermal areas by preventing contaminated fluid from entering an open epidermal site on a user, comprising the steps of: removably attaching at least one adjustable strap to a reusable non-deforming flexible protective cover comprising a sealing member, covering the open epidermal site with the reusable non-deforming flexible protective cover while maintaining a space between the reusable non-deforming flexible protective cover and the open epidermal site, and tightening the at least one adjustable strap to secure the reusable non-deforming flexible protective cove over the open epidermal site to create a fluid-tight seal between the sealing member and the open epidermal site, thereby preventing contaminated fluid from entering the open epidermal site.
