Patent number: 10765550Abstract: An apparatus for fixing bad posture includes a support rod, multiple length-adjustable straps, and multiple strap-attachment points. The apparatus for fixing bad posture prevents the user from slouching by affixing the support rod to the user's back with the straps. The support rod is a rigid member that is placed against a user's back. The support rod has a rod body, a mounting face, and a bracing face. The rod body is the structural component of the support rod. The bracing face and mounting face are positioned on opposite lateral surfaces of the rod body. Thus positioned, the bracing face is pressed against the user's back when correcting posture. The strap-attachment points are connection mechanisms for the length-adjustable straps that are distributed along the length of the support rod. As such, each of the length-adjustable straps is attached to the support rod by a corresponding strap-attachment point.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2017Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Inventor: Sheena Jean Nadeau

Patent number: 10575859Abstract: A hemostatic device includes a band for being wrapped around a wrist W, securing means for securing the band in a state where the band is wrapped around the wrist, and an inflation portion disposed on an inner peripheral surface of the band, and that is inflated by injecting gas. The inflation portion has a first layer and a second layer which covers an outer surface of the first layer. The first layer is formed of a material which has a larger gas permeation amount per unit area than a material for forming the second layer. The second layer has gap portions which can expose the outer surface of the first layer outward from the second layer in a state where the inflation portion is inflated.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2017Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: TERUMO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Kenichi Hazama

Patent number: 10292692Abstract: An apron formed from a gel-infused section of foam with a generally pentagonal shape approximately one inch thick with at least one surface exhibiting a coefficient of friction sufficient to releasably adhere the foam to a portion of human anatomy. The section of foam is suspended between four straps extending beyond the periphery of the foam member, each strap defining a length of at least thirty inches and including longitudinally opposing ends relative to the foam member with hook and loop material that permit the releasable attachment of the straps to a proximal mounting substrate, such as the railings of a conventional surgical bed. A method of manipulating a portion of the human anatomy with such an apron is also included.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2017Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Inventor: Ginger Fountain

Patent number: 9956927Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a highly heat-resistant sound absorbing and insulating material, more specifically to a method including a beating and mixing step, a web forming step, a web stacking step, a needle punching step, a binder impregnating step and a solvent recovering step. The highly heat-resistant sound absorbing and insulating material manufactured by the method according to the present invention may be installed on a location closest to the noise source of an engine or an exhaust system to reduce radiated noise from the engine or the exhaust system, thereby improving quietness inside a vehicle, and may be applied to a location adjacent to a metal part which is at a temperature of 200° C. or greater to exert heat-insulating function, thereby protecting nearby plastic and rubber parts.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2013Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignees: Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors CorporationInventors: Keun Young Kim, Jung Wook Lee, Won Jin Seo, Won Ku Lee, Su Nam Lee, Byung Cheol Cho

Patent number: 9414953Abstract: In an embodiment, an orthopedic device in the form of a lumbar support includes first and second elongate belt members, an anatomically shaped plate, and a closure system connecting the belt members to the plate. The closure system is arranged to move the belt members relative to the plate, and connects to the belt members via a flexible belt attachment which removably secures to the belt members. The closure system includes tensioning elements corresponding to the belt members, and a pulley system connecting to the tensioning elements. The closure system is slidably mounted to the plate and arranged to the belt members relative to the plate between opposed linear directions. The plate has various contours which provide pressure distribution over a lumbar region of a back. Anatomically shaped and resiliently formed handles secure to the tensioning elements and the belt members.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2015Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: OSSUR HFInventors: Arni Thor Ingimundarson, Brice Robertson

Patent number: 8435201Abstract: A method for treating a user's back, a user's neck, or combinations thereof. The method can include the steps of: inserting a traction device into a pouch of a fabric garment; disposing the fabric garment over a user; engaging the traction device with a surface; and applying a pressure to the traction device using the user's back. The traction device can provide a therapeutic pressure to the user's back, to the user's neck, or to combinations thereof. The method can use a customizable traction device having a shearable fraction head and body. The shearable traction head and body can each be cut to a custom size to fit a user. The method can use a removable fabric chair cover disposed over a chair. A user can sit on the chair and apply a pressure to the traction device using the user's back.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2009Date of Patent: May 7, 2013Inventors: Jose Gomez, Jr., Victor B. Ramos
