Patent number: 7076293Abstract: A computer-aided automatic vital acupuncture point alignment and electronic acupuncture method uses a system comprised of a computer, a digital imaging device, a digital probe device and an electronic acupuncture device. The computer takes a picture of a patient's body with the digital imaging device and automatically marks vital acupuncture points on the picture from a standard body's picture on which all vital acupuncture points are marked and localizes the vital acupuncture points on the patient's skin with the digital probe device. A practitioner uses the electronic acupuncture device to touch the vital acupuncture points on the patient's skin based on the patient's picture. The computer outputs a suitable wave signal through the electronic acupuncture device to the skin. Therefore, the present invention identifies the vital acupuncture points on the skin to have a good curative effect.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2003Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Inventor: Wei-Cheng Wang

Patent number: 5211175Abstract: An electro-acupuncture system comprises a transmitter for emitting high frequency magnetic energy pulses and a receiver, sealed within an implantable "thumb-tack" shaped device, for receiving and converting such pulses into stimulating pulses of current. The device comprises a head having an exposed ring-electrode (anode) secured therein and a needle-like electrode (cathode) having a proximal end secured in the head and a distal end adapted to pierce body tissue. The latter electrode comprises a metallic tube secured in the head and a metallic wire inserted through the tube to position and fix an exposed tip of the wire at a preselected location and depth in the body tissue, in accordance with method steps taught herein.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1992Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Assignee: Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Curtis A. Patent number: 5211184Abstract: The apparatus comprises a bandage assembly further comprising a bandage, a contact point and at least two electrode assembly installation components integrated into the bandage; an electrode assembly installed in each installation component, a source for electrical signals, and conductors to carry the signals to the electrode assemblies. The bandage assembly is attached by straps or other appropriate means to a person with the contact point contacting a specific anatomic point and oriented in a specific direction relative to a selected anatomic feature. With the bandage so installed the electrode assemblies in the installation components are positioned precisely at acupuncture points. Treatment occurs when the signals from the source are applied to the electrode assemblies. Each electrode assembly comprises a body and a wick-like electrode inserted through the body. The body is hollow and filled with electrically conductive fluid which, when absorbed by the electrode, renders the electrode conductive.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1991Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Inventors: Hsiao P. Patent number: 5144554Abstract: A diagnostic and therapeutic apparatus for gastrointestinal diseases which has a central control unit a set of diagnosis and therapy lead electrodes, diagnosis and therapy switch, acupunctural point stimulating pulse amplifier, display, and a human body spectrum generator. During the diagnostic operation, bioelectric signals from a patient stomach received by the lead electrodes are supplied to the central control unit via the switch and displayed on a display. During the therapeutic operation, the human body spectrum generator radiates a simulated human body spectrum which matches with the spectrum of the human stomach to reinstate the abnormal spectrum of the patient so that gastrointestinal diseases can be cured. Meanwhile, the acupunctural point stimulating pulse amplifier introduces point stimulating pulses to the relevant accupoints of the patient body via the switch and lead electrodes for therapeutic purpose.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Inventors: Xueshan Zhang, Lin Zhou
