Abstract: An enclosed smoking device including a dome sealingly engageable with a base member, and a solid bowl sealingly engageable with a socket extending through the base member, the bowl being heatable from the exterior of the device. The assembly of dome, base member, and bowl define an enclosed interior space to prevent the escape of smoke or vapor produced by the heating of a smokable material in the bowl. The dome further includes a choke and a non-projecting integrated mouthpiece. A method of using an enclosed smoking device wherein no smoke or vapor is permitted to escape from the device during the smoking operation.

Abstract: An igniter for an incendiary briquette of a type suitable for smoking a smoking substance disposed in a bowl of a hookah is disclosed. The igniter includes a housing defining an interior and having a sidewall, a bottom wall, and a top opening providing access to the interior. An ignition source that produces a flame is disposed in the interior of the housing. The igniter includes a removable tray for supporting the incendiary briquette. The tray has at least one heat transfer hole therein and is sized to be removably supported by the housing at a location above the flame of the ignition source, wherein heat flows upwardly to cause a burning of the incendiary briquette. The tray is sized to seat above the bowl of the hookah so that the burning briquette is supported to cause a burning of the smoking substance.

Abstract: A vaporizer apparatus for vaporizing medical herbs and essences is described that uses an electrical power driven medium to vaporize the herbs and essences. The vaporizer apparatus has a heating element assembly mounted at an angle within an enclosure. The heating element assembly also includes an insulating shield which covers the heating element and which has a mating section for mating with a hand piece. The hand piece includes a vaporization chamber where herbs are packed, an inlet for connecting with the mating section of the shield, and an outlet for inhalation by a user. Methods for using the vaporizer apparatus is also discussed.

Abstract: A channeling device is provided for transferring and compressing a bundle of cigarettes formed into a rectangular configuration by a hopper into a preformed container. The channeling device includes a base having a longitudinal axis and a longitudinal channel through the base The channel includes an entry portion having a lateral entry cross section which is rectangular and adapted to receive the bundle of cigarettes, and an exit portion having a non-rectangular exit cross section smaller than the entry cross section and adapted to deliver the bundle of cigarettes to a container having a matching non-rectangular cross section. An intermediate portion smoothly connects the entry portion to the exit portion. In one preferred embodiment, the non-rectangular cross section is flask-shaped. In another preferred embodiment, the non-rectangular cross section is polygonal, such as octagonal. In still another preferred embodiment, the non-rectangular cross section is oval shaped.

Abstract: A drying device for a cigarette stick includes a hollow cylinder body and a heat applicator. The cylinder body has an open top portion, a closed bottom portion, and an inner wall surface which confines a stick receiving space that is adapted to receive the cigarette stick therein. The heat applicator is provided on the cylinder body for generating heat along the inner wall surface of the cylinder body to heat the stick receiving space. The stale taste of the cigarette stick can be reduced, and the freshness of the cigarette stick can be recovered when the cigarette stick is heated in the stick receiving space of the cylinder body.

Abstract: A smoking pipe having improved smoking characteristics. The smoking pipe includes a bowl having top and bottom openings and a breather hole near the top opening and in communication with a pipe stem. A cover assembly is attached to the bowl adjacent to the top opening and covers the top opening when the pipe is to be smoked. A retainer having a screen cooperates with the bottom opening for retaining smoking tobacco within the bowl while permitting access to the tobacco for the ignition thereof. The retainer may also be removed from its position relative to the bottom opening for the removal of ashes.Tobacco is inserted into the bowl via either opening, but preferably via the top opening and to a level just below the breather hole. With the cover assembly covering the top opening, the tobacco is ignited via the screen of the retainer, causing combustion of the tobacco in a bottom-to-top fashion.

Abstract: A tubular water pipe embodying an electrical heating element in its base operable by use of a momentary on/off switch forming a part thereof and divided into separate chambers. The lower chamber collects smoke of a burning product such as tobacco and the upper chamber containing water cools the smoke when drawn therethrough by the smoker.
