Abstract: A freezable smoking pipe with integrated reflective particles for producing a cool, dry smoke that flows to the mouth, and providing an ornamental smoking experience. The pipe comprises a bowl and a mouthpiece that are in communication through a shaft. The shaft is defined by a transparent and continuous shaft outer wall and shaft inner wall that form a channel. The bowl is defined by a transparent and continuous bowl outer wall and bowl inner wall. A cooling composition consisting of isopropyl, water, and reflective particles is sealed between the walls. The cooling composition can be frozen to cool the smoke that flows through the channel of the shaft. The duration of cooling is at least partially dependent on the space between the inner and outer walls, and the concentration of isopropyl. The reflective particles are visible through the walls and reflect light to create an ornamental smoking experience.

Abstract: Provided is filter unit for a vaporization pipe having improved reliability and manufacturability and lower cost. The present filter unit comprises a wooden filter housing with a through hole. A metal insert fitting is press fit into the hole. A ceramic foam flame filter is disposed inside the insert fitting. The insert fitting preferably has a step ledge for supporting the ceramic foam filter. The metal fitting preferably has a flange (external to the wood filter housing) for improving the stability of the mechanical connection between the insert fitting and filter housing. This design allows for fast assembly with a minimum of labor. Stress and damage to the wood is minimized. The filter housing can have a vertical/longitudinal wood grain direction (parallel with the filter housing hole), thereby reducing the cost of the wood parts and improving the finished appearance.

Abstract: A cigarette holder completely encloses the lit end of a cigarette providing purification for both sidestream smoke and mainstream smoke. It has two concentric tubes with the lit cigarette placed in the inner tube and purifying agent placed in the volume between the inner tube and the outer tube. A chimney effect is produced wherein air flows through an air port past the lit cigarette to keep it burning. The sidestream smoke passes through the purifying agent and is discharged into the environment. The filter tip of the lit cigarette extends through a mouthpiece and the smoker exhales smoke through openings in the same mouthpiece. The mainstream smoke passes through the same purifying agent, in a direction opposite to the flow of the sidestream smoke, and is then discharged into the environment.

A replaceable cartridge includes a burn chamber in which the cigarette burns, a smoke treatment chamber adjacent to the burn chamber, a particulate filter between the burn chamber and the smoke treatment chamber, and smoke treatment means within the smoke treatment chamber for absorbing exhaled smoke passing within the smoke treatment chamber to produce a decontaminated gaseous mixture.

A housing defines a pumping chamber having peripheral walls surrounding and in sealing contact with the circumference of the gears between an inlet port and a discharge port. Bearing walls are adapted to engage adjacent side faces of the gears in substantially sealing relation. Grooves are provided in the bearing walls for progressively admitting pressure to the gear teeth as the gear teeth move toward the discharge port.
