With Tube Making Patents (Class 131/73)
  • Patent number: 10004255
Abstract: A tobacco product is formed by rolling a sheet of material supplied by a roll or rolls (e.g. moistened tobacco leaves) and/or homogenized sheet tobacco about a slit mandrel to form a shaped tube. The shaped tube is then packaged for shipment to an end user or consumer. The shaped tube remains in the rolled, shaped tube form inside the package. After the shaped tube is removed from the package, a consumer can fill the tube with crushed tobacco leaves or other tobacco filler material of a favorite blend, thereby eliminating some steps in the making of a “roll-your-own” tobacco product. A liquid can be added to the sheet or to the finished tube to moisturize same. The liquid can include flavoring. The tubes are unfilled when packaged and sent to a consumer/end user in tube form so that they have a “memory” that helps hold a tubular cigar shape after they are filled with selected tobacco fill material.

  • Patent number: 9999244
Abstract: A Pre-Rolled Smoking Paper Stuffer has a chimney which includes a separator wall bin, converging guide, cradle, tip spacer, and base walls and an extractor base which includes an extractor block, alignment block, and tip pusher. A smoking paper can be inserted into the cradle. Smoking materials are placed into the bin and flow out of the bin and into the converging guide which funnels them into the smoking paper held within the cradle. Once filled, the chimney is pressed onto the base and the alignment block aligns the tip pusher with the smoking-end of the paper. As the chimney continues to be pushed down, the tip pusher displaces the filled smoking paper up and out of the top of the cradle. The stuffed paper can be grasped and lifted out of the stuffer. Multiple stuffers can be attached to one another via the use of various attachment means.

  • Patent number: 7987856
Abstract: A smoking article having a tobacco rod of a smokable material and a filter system attached to the tobacco rod of smokable material. The filter system includes a first filter portion and a second filter portion, the second filter portion concentrically positioned with respect to the first filter portion and having a lower resistance to draw than the first filter portion during an initial puff on the smoking article. The second filter portion closes upon contact with the mainstream smoke of the initial puff, such that after the initial puff, the first filter portion has the lower resistance to draw.

  • Patent number: 6722373
Abstract: A cigarette sidestream smoke treatment material made from a sheet of non-combustible active components provides a porous structure capable of treating sidestream smoke. The treatment material, as used in combination with a cigarette, provides a low sidestream smoke emitting cigarette unit. The material has a porosity which encourages a conventional free-burn rate of a conventional cigarette. The material may comprise a sorbent capable of sorbing components of the sidestream smoke, and an oxygen storage component which releases oxygen at free-burn rate temperatures to ensure that conventional free-burn rate is maintained and to enhance the oxidation treatment of the adsorbed non-aqueous components. Preferably, an oxidation catalyst is included in the material and most desirably the oxygen storage component may also function as the oxidation catalyst. Particularly preferred materials which perform the dual function are oxides of cerium.

  • Patent number: 6557560
Abstract: A cigarette making machine of the type wherein a portion of tobacco for one cigarette is compressed into a generally cylindrical form within a compressed tobacco chamber. The tobacco is thereafter axially moved and injected by an elongated spoon member into a preformed cigarette tube. A moveable wall member is actuated by a handle exteriorly of the machine through at least two toggle joints linking the moveable wall member to framing of the machine whereby to displace the moveable wall to transfer the tobacco in the tube. A first link of each toggle joint is in pivotal connection with the moveable wall member. A second link of each toggle joint is in pivotal connection with the framing of the machine. Each first link has a substantially rounded head portion at the free end thereof in operative contact with an abutment surface of the moveable wall member, for strengthening the pivotal connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4832057
Abstract: An apparatus for making a smokeable cigarette from a preformed inherently unsmokeable rod of tobacco and a separate sheet of cigarette paper provided with a strip of contact adhesive comprises an open-ended smooth bore resilient tube provided with a longitudinal slit defined by a pair of lips one of which is radially further spaced from the axis of the tube than is the other lip and is tangential to the circumference of the tube. In operation, the rod is inserted axially into the tube, the paper is then inserted into the slit and the rod rotated so as to wind the paper onto the rod. The user squeezes the tube so as to control the friction between the rod and the sheet. The sheet finally adheres to itself by means of the strip of adhesive. The invention also includes a booklet of cigarette papers which are mounted on the backing card by strips of contact adhesive. On removing a sheet from the card the strip of adhesive remains attached to the sheet.
