Abstract: An umbrella including a support shaft, a plurality of ribs, a rotatable cam assembly, and a canopy. Each rib of the plurality of ribs has a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion is pivotably attached to an upper portion of the support shaft to pivot the rib between an open position and a closed position. The rotatable cam assembly includes a cam configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the support shaft. The cam is engaged with each rib of the plurality of ribs such that (i) each rib moves in a direction from the closed position to the open position when the cam rotates in a first direction and (ii) each rib moves in a direction from the open position to the closed position when the cam rotates in a second direction, the second direction being opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A multi-functional activity management system for elderly utilizes prior art walking sticks to manage big data related to activity of elderly persons. In addition, new improvements have been made upon prior art walking sticks. By incorporating umbrella function into the walking stick, the stem portion becomes narrower and shorter, thereby making it easy to be inserted into the thin walking stick. New functions have been developed from the prior art walking sticks for better use by the elderly persons.

Abstract: An umbrella includes (a) a rod assembly including a plurality of rods; (b) a canopy connected to the rod assembly and movable between an open position in which the canopy is deployed and a closed position in which the canopy is retracted; (c) a stationary handgrip connected to the rod assembly for grasping the umbrella; (d) a trigger assembly that is releasably connected to at least one rod of the rod assembly, wherein, upon actuation of the trigger assembly, the trigger releases the at least one rod of the rod assembly which deploys and causes the canopy to move from the closed position to the open position; and (e) a handle movable with respect to the handgrip and connected to the rod assembly, the handle being translatable to move the canopy from the open position to the closed position.

Abstract: A modular survival tool including a tool body having a tomahawk axe selectively disposed on a top end thereof, a storage compartment therein, a pair of forward protrusions to which a pair of limb members forming a bow are selectively mounted for storage, a pair of angled rearward protrusions are disposed on a rear side of the tool body and the limb members attached thereto to form the bow, and a bow string attached to upper ends of the rearward protrusions. A modular arrow has connectable components stored within the storage compartment but assemble into an arrow for use with the bow. At least one arrow rest is disposed on one of a right side and a left side of the tool body to assist in aiming the arrow. A fire starting surface is disposed on a removable cap over the bottom end, which provides access to the storage compartment.

Abstract: An end unit mounted to an umbrella ferrule includes a tube, a ball and a pad. The tube has a top collar connected to the top thereof and a bottom member is received in the tube. A room is defined between the bottom member and the lower end of the tube. The ball is pivotably engaged with the room and the top of the ball contacts the bottom member. The ball has a shank which is connected to the pad. The bottom member provides proper friction to allow the ball to pivot.

Abstract: Disclosed is a pedestrian support system that supports the movement of a pedestrian through the use of tags. This pedestrian support system comprises: a plurality of tags having an information storage unit and that are placed on a cable that extends over a traveled path; a guide device that is held by a pedestrian that is traveling along a sidewalk and that is capable of non-contact communication with the tags, and a central control device, comprising a database in which tag map information is recorded, that uses that tag map information to creates path information having tag IDs that are in the order of tags that are located along a path from a starting location to a destination location and directly or indirectly sets that path information in the guide device.

Abstract: An easily detachable stick has an umbrella installed therein. The stick includes a grip element having a root portion extending therefrom, the root portion having a platform along an axis direction and a leaf spring installed on the platform, the leaf spring having one end fixed to the platform and the other end being a free end; and a supporting pole having a hollow cavity installed therein, the cavity having an opening at one end thereof, into which the root portion is inserted, a sliding groove disposed in the opening along an axis direction of the cavity, a sliding button embedded in the sliding groove, an elastic element installed in the sliding groove between the sliding button and the opening of the cavity, and an inner flange inward protruding from the opening of the cavity, allowing the free end of the leaf spring to be supported by the inner flange.

Abstract: An audio system for an outdoor umbrella includes an audio housing, a detachable locker, and an audio device. The audio housing includes a first housing body and a second housing body defining a mounting slot for a shaft of the outdoor umbrella fitting therewithin. The detachable locker includes a first locker provided at the first housing body and a second locker which is provided at the second housing body and is releasably locked with the first locker so as to detachably lock up the second housing body with the first housing body. The audio device includes a speaker supported in the first housing body and an audio input operatively coupling with the speaker such that when the audio input sends an audio signal to the speaker, the speaker is adapted for producing audio sound as an additional function for the outdoor umbrella.

Abstract: A combination trekking pole and blind is disclosed. When in a collapsed configuration, the trekking pole facilitates a user traversing challenging terrain. The combination can quickly be expanded into a blind configuration with an expanding camouflaged umbrella arrangement for concealing the user from the view of hunted game.

The device includes a hollow, cylindrical, longitudinal member which can provide a storage compartment for an umbrella slidably disposed therein. A suction cup mounted atop the longitudinal member allows the user to easily pick up discs without having to stoop or bend.

Abstract: A stabilized liquid enzyme composition is prepared containing at least one enzyme substrate or analog thereof and/or at least one enzyme product or analog thereof combined with the enzyme in a liquid medium containing. The liquid medium may be human, animal or artificial serum. The composition may also contain an activator chosen from a sulfhydryl compound and a divalent metal ion. In a preferred embodiment, the enzyme is isolated creatine kinase MB(CKMB), the substrate may be adenosine triphosphate, its oxidized or analog form, creatine or its analog, and the product may be adenosine diphosphate, its oxidized or analog form or phosphocreatine or its analog. The activator is preferably N-acetyl-cysteine or .beta.-mercaptoethanol. In a preferred embodiment, CKMB is stabilized with a combination of adenosine triphosphate and creatine. A preferred serum is heat-inactivated alkaline-shocked human serum.
