Abstract: The present invention provides a flow-guiding device, comprising: a flow-guiding passage, a plurality of a first control valves, a flow-guiding bag and a flow-guiding tube. One end of the flow-guiding passage is connected to a flow-guiding opening and the other end of the flow-guiding passage is connected to a plurality of first control valves. The plurality of first control valves are further connected to the flow-guiding bag, which is connected to one end of the flow-guiding tube. By opening the plurality of first control valves, the fluid coming down from the flow-guiding opening is directed to flow into the flow-guiding bag, and by closing the plurality of first control valves. The other end of the flow-guiding tube is connected to a second control valve; by opening the second control valve, the fluid inside the flow-guiding bag is discharged. The present invention also provides an umbrella having a flow-guiding device.

Abstract: An umbrella apparatus with a self-storing ability is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a handle portion which opens to reveal a folded umbrella rod, cupola, and ribs. The umbrella portion rotates to an open position and the handle is closed once again. The apparatus thus functions as an umbrella when needed, and as a case for holding the umbrella when the umbrella is not needed. The handle is capable of enclosing the entire umbrella in a folded form for easy portability. A method for connecting an umbrella to a multi-functional handle is also disclosed.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for an umbrella mechanism with an outer and inner shaft, a plurality of ribs connected with the outer shaft and a canopy supported by the plurality of ribs are provided. The plurality of ribs are configured into a substantially “V” shape when the umbrella mechanism is in a closed position, such that upon opening the umbrella into an open position, the plurality of ribs opens vertically before expanding horizontally, thus avoiding inadvertent contact of the umbrella with a user during the opening operation. The umbrella mechanism may be handheld or mounted to a structure such as a backpack, chair, table, patio or house, and may be operated by an enclosed motor. The motor may be powered by a battery, solar panel embedded into the canopy or an outside power source.

Abstract: A foldable pocket umbrella is proposed that includes a handle cover and a support element of a truncated cone-shaped tripod element having air ducts for ventilation of the interior of a handle cover. The support and a three point bearing achieves optimal conditions conferring minimal frictional losses between support element and inner wall of the handle cover and resilient stability to the umbrella.

A removable cap mounted to a sleeve member that includes a thorough passage allows for the ready drainage of the water collected by the canopy, reducing the probability of water damage or accidents to the user or others, resulting from slippage upon water.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an umbrella system, substantially comprising an umbrella with elements that include a hollow shaft, a cover, as well as a frame consisting of ribs and stretchers mounted on the exterior of the hollow shaft. When retracted, the cover is stowed inside the shaft. When deployed, the umbrella's cover is supported by ribs and stretchers as well as by the shaft. Ribs and stretchers slide along the hollow shaft's exterior as the invention's cover is deployed and retracted. This configuration of deployment elements is not seen in the prior art of umbrella construction. It allows use of accouterments that expand the invention's use and convenience. The umbrella may be constructed using materials having low coefficients of electrical conductivity such fiberglass, plastics, or composites, thereby reducing shock risks.

The cover is mountable to align with the shaft of the umbrella and can be expanded parallel to the shaft of the umbrella to cover the umbrella after the umbrella has been folded into a closed condition. Thus, the cover contains moisture accumulated on the wet umbrella cloth from scattering.

The pair of bores coact with the spring lock to selectively lock the rib in the bores in both the deployment and storage configurations.
