One Inflow Supplements Another Patents (Class 137/114)
  • Patent number: 11384886
Abstract: Disclosed is a pulsation dampening system for high-pressure (e.g., 10K psi and higher) fluid lines. At high fluid flow pressures, the dampening system is a dual stage dampening system, responsive to low (e.g., when first charging the fluid line) and to very high-pressure pulsations. An external containment shell handles the full fluid flow pressures. One or more internal shells contain and handle the internal gas dampening system. The in-flow relationship of the gas dampening component assures that pressure differences between the internal gas handling system and the high-pressure fluid flow is always relatively small. This enables the gas handling components to be constructed of less robust material than the external shell (even though the gas system's internal pressure can equal that of the fluid flow), and be less susceptible to pressure failure.

Abstract: A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine has a first pump for delivering fuel to a first use on a gas turbine engine, and a second pump for delivering fuel to a second use on the gas turbine engine. A valve allows flow from the first pump to be delivered to the first use, but also routes some flow from the first pump to supplement fuel flow from the second pump until a pressure downstream of the second pump increases. The valve then allows flow from the second pump to flow to the first use to supplement the flow from the first pump.

  • Patent number: 8740102
Abstract: A gas turbine engine valve is disclosed. In one form the valve includes two inlets in fluid communication with an outlet. The valve can include a spool having two lands capable of selectively closing either of the two inlets. The valve can include energy storage devices that initially position the spool within a valve housing. A temperature motor is provided to position the spool based upon a temperature of a mixture of working fluid from the two inlets. A working fluid flowing into the first inlet can be in fluid communication with a second end of the valve; and a working fluid flowing into the second inlet can be in fluid communication with a first end of the valve. A relatively high pressure condition at one or the other of the inlets can be used to alter a position of the valve.

  • Patent number: 8733384
Abstract: A method and system for boosting pipeline gas pressure in a low-pressure gas pipeline in which a supplemental gas supply pipe in fluid communication with a supplemental pipeline gas supply is provided to an interior of a gas pipeline containing a pressurized pipeline gas, where the pressure of the supplemental pipeline gas supply is greater than the pressure of the pressurized pipeline gas. The gas pressure differential between the pressurized pipeline gas and the supplemental pipeline gas supply pressure is measured. When the pressure differential reaches a certain predetermined set value, supplemental pipeline gas is provided from the supplemental pipeline gas supply through the supplemental gas supply pipe into a pipeline space between the gas pipeline and the supplemental gas supply pipe. The flow of supplemental pipeline gas is halted upon achievement of a second predetermined set differential pressure.

Abstract: A flow discharge device, such as a bleed assembly in a gas turbine engine, comprises a discharge outlet member having a skirt which is accommodated telescopically in a housing so as to be displaceable with respect to wall of a duct from a retracted position in which slots in the skirt lie outside the duct, and an extended position in which the slots open into the duct for the discharge of a secondary fluid into the flow in the duct. The discharge outlet member is moved to the extended position by the pressure of the secondary fluid acting on a silencer element. A spring returns the discharge outlet member to the retracted position when the flow of the secondary fluid is terminated.

  • Patent number: 8443826
Abstract: A demand valve for gas mixing comprises two or more flow control valves that are connected to separate gas supplies. The demand valve includes a common actuation mechanism, such as a diaphragm arranged to displace levers, each of which, in turn, opens and closes proportionally in a substantially constant ratio a respective flow control valve. Inhalation flow drawn through an outlet causes displacement of the diaphragm and hence opening of the flow control valves. Gas from the separate supplies is therefore mixed in a main chamber to a substantially constant composition, regardless of the flow rate demanded, before being dispensed via the outlet.
