    Abstract: A fluid control valve which comprises a valve body structure having a fluid flow passage therethrough and a first sealing surface means and a closure structure for controlling the fluid flow through the passage with the closure structure having a second sealing means adapted to engage the first sealing means to shut off fluid flow through the valve wherein there is formed in the valve body structure an annular groove proximate the first sealing means for the positioning therein of an electrical heater cable overlaid with a heat conductive layer, the heated cable extending into and out of the valve bodies so as not to interfere with the operation of the valve, the electrical heater cable in communication with a source of electrical energy.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing an exhaust control valve includes casting first and second subhousings as separate pieces and machining smooth the inner faces of both. Each subhousing has a stem portion and a flow portion. Each flow portion defines a cylindrical bore from which a seat arc extends radially inward and approximately 180° along. The seat arc of the first subhousing lies below, and the seat arc of the second subhousing lies above, a horizontal plane that bisects the subhousings. Each seat arc has a semicircular inner sidewall that serves as a valve seat. Their inner faces facing each other, the two subhousings are mated so that their two stem portions form a stem housing and their two flow portions form a flow housing. During the mating step, the cylindrical bores are aligned to form a flow passage through the flow housing, with the two valve seats spaced equidistantly from a vertical plane defined by the inner faces along which the subhousings mate.

    Abstract: A throttle shaft assembly includes throttle shaft with a cam and shaft portion the shaft portion configured to be inserted in the throttle body, a throttle return spring that is coiled around the throttle shaft with two ends one end engaged to the cam portion and the other end engaged to a spring support on the throttle body, and a throttle spring cover that substantially surrounds the throttle return spring and is slideably mounted on the throttle shaft. The throttle return spring can be preloaded and restrained at both ends on the throttle shaft assembly thus preventing the preload from being released as the throttle shaft assembly is inserted into the throttle body. One end of the spring can be released to engage a portion of the throttle body thus reducing a portion of the preload. The cover had several flexible fingers that engage a groove in the throttle shaft and prevent the cover from sliding off thus exposing the spring.

    Abstract: A rotary valve is provided with an elliptical valve disc that seats against a seal element operatively mounted in an elliptically shaped depression formed in the rigid annular portion of a seal cartridge structure carried by the valve body. Due to the elliptical shapes of the disc and corresponding seating structure, and a conical configuration of the disc periphery, sealing of the valve disc, the integrity of the seal, and the ability of the seal to completely stop the flow of fluid through the valve body are desirably improved. The centering of valve disc relative to the seal cartridge is facilitated by a specially designed disc mounting structure that eliminates any necessity of adjusting the disc along its rotational axis, and a one-piece actuator bracket is removably mounted to the valve body to substantially simplify and reduce the expense of operatively associating an actuator with the valve.
