  • Patent number: 10435999
Abstract: A fluid release valve includes valve housing (VH) coupled between a pump and an outlet pipe, VH chamber providing fluid from its inlet and outlet when the pump starts, and fluid release orifice (FRO) draining outlet pipe fluid flowing back into the VH when the pump stops; and check valve (CV) combination having a CV shuttle that moves towards/away from the inlet/outlet and an internal shuttle chamber (ISC), and having a CV that moves towards/away from the inlet/outlet within the ISC. The CV combination responds to a pumped fluid pressure when the pump's pumping and stops the fluid from flowing from the inlet around the CV shuttle and out the FRO. The CV combination responds to a fluid differential pressure (FDP) when the pump stops and allows the outlet pipe fluid to drain out the FRO until the FDP reaches an equilibrium.

Abstract: An anti-back flow vacuum breaker valve includes a valve body having a cylindrical internal chamber with a conical upper portion and a reduced diameter lower portion forming a horizontal valve seat. The body has an inlet communicating with the chamber on the underside of the valve seat, and an outlet communicating with the chamber on the over side of the valve seat. A ball is positioned within the internal chamber having a diameter larger than the diameter of the valve seat for sealing the inlet of the valve. The valve body has a vertical journal vent extending through the conical upper portion of the chamber, and forms a vent seat at the lower end of the journal vent. The chamber has a buoyant vent plug having an upper stem slidably positioned within the journal vent and the vent plug is engagable with the vent seat. Upon flow through the inlet, the ball elevates the vent plug to seal the vent. Upon backflow through the outlet, the ball seals the inlet and the fluid elevates the vent plug to seal the vent.

Abstract: A first check valve has a narrow flow path portion (68) formed between an arcuate portion (46) of the outer periphery (45) of a support member and a second enlarged-diameter portion (11) of a casing. The narrow flow path portion (first portion of an intermediate flow path) is in fluidic communication with a back-pressure chamber (50) defined in the support member at the rear of the top of a valving element through a communicating passage (67) including a gap (66) between the outer periphery of the valving element and the inner periphery of a large-diameter portion (38) and grooves (27) on the rear surface of the top of the valving element. Thus, a low static pressure of fluid flowing through the narrow flow path portion is introduced into the back-pressure chamber to move the valving element by a large differential pressure during the supply of fluid, thereby allowing the valve opening to become larger than in the conventional apparatus and enabling a reduction of pressure losses.
