  • Patent number: 5651403
Abstract: A closure for sacks, bags and like containers which have non-rigid walls and which are to be pressurized. The closure includes a filling nozzle having a tubular stub and a flange. The flange has a tubular cylindrical portion and a plate-shaped portion. The plate-shaped portion of the flange is attached to the container. The filling nozzle may be caused to sealingly engage the flange by use of a snap connection, whereby the closure is either completely open or closed. The snap connection either retains the filling nozzle in firm and tight engagement with the flange, or releases the filling nozzle in relation to the flange.

  • Patent number: 5365967
Abstract: A tire pressure indicator which includes a valve stem over-pressure indicator and a valve stem cap under-pressure indicator. The valve stem includes an air porting scheme that releases over-inflation air for escape through a whistling reed configuration. The valve stem cap includes a top translucent panel for coaction with a diaphragm spring contained therebelow. Normal tire pressure distends the diaphragm spring to an upward convex attitude in contact with the underside of the translucent panel to project a visual indicator.

  • Patent number: 5181977
Abstract: A tire fill valve having pressure relief and tire fill fluid gas flow limiting characteristics for use in filling tires to a predetermined pressure form a large flow capacity gas source delivering fill gas at a substantially greater pressure. Gases utilized typically are air or nitrogen. The valve of the invention is wheel mounted intermediate the gas pressurizing source and the tire gas valve inlet. Tire fill gas from a high pressure high capacity source passes through a flow limiting orifice having a positive closure or shutoff member and passes through a pressure sensitive chamber as it enters the tire. Chamber pressure is sensed by a spring loaded valve disk controlling relief or venting orifices. When fill pressure in the pressure sensing chamber exceeds a pre-determined value established by the valve disk area and valve disk springs, the disk lifts allowing the venting of the fill gas.

  • Patent number: 5101754
Abstract: A device for the surveillance of the pressure of a vehicle tire includes a pressure-sensitive device which senses the tire pressure and generates, in case of a pressure loss in the tire, a pressure change signal. A set member is actuated with this pressure change signal such that the signal member performs a stroke. A sensor tests the position of the set member and recognizes when the tire pressure is too low. A pressure-sensitive device (1) includes a check valve (9, 12), opening toward the pressure discharge port (3). The pressure at the pressure discharge port (3) can be blocked versus the tire pressure based on the check valve (9, 12). The invention device is suitable for furnishing a continuous signal up to the complete emptying of a tire.

  • Patent number: 5029604
Abstract: A safety core (10) for a tire valve comprises a head portion (12) screwed into the valve's housing (28) so that it is sealed against the inner wall of the housing by compressing a seal ring (36) located in an annular groove (34) formed in a tapered portion (32) of the head part. Inserted into the head part is a cylindrical body (14) which contains a ball-type check valve (20). A ball (84) of the valve is constantly pressed to a seat (80) installed on the rear end of an adjustment pipe (16), the latter being screwed into the rear end of the body (14). The rear end protrudes through the head portion (12) and has a stop (58) on its end. A spring (62), located between the stop (58) and the outer end face of the head portion (12), constantly urges the front end of the head portion (12) to a valve seat formed on a shoulder (68) of a large-diameter portion (66) of the cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 4948092
Abstract: A combined check valve and relief valve assembly for permitting the free of a fluid in a first direction and for selectively preventing backflow. Backflow occurs only upon depression of a compression spring-loaded cylindrical valve actuator housed within the valve body. The valve assembly comprises a valve body having an inlet and outlet port which are adjacent to an upper and lower cylindrical bore respectively, thus providing a flow path. A resilient duckbill valve is mounted within the cylindrical bores. A compression spring-loaded valve actuator is also received, lossely, within the valve body and is provided with a stem at the end of the valve actuator, proximate to the opening of the duckbill valve. Fluid passing through the upper cylindrical core around the valve actuator opens the lips of the duckbill valve permitting free passage therethrough. Back pressure seals the lips of the duckbill valve so that the valve becomes a check valve.

  • Patent number: 4895199
Abstract: A central tire inflation and deflation system which quickly inflates or deflates tires to any one of a plurality of pressures selected by the vehicle operator. Inflation pressure is greater than the pressure to which the tires are to be inflated. The system uses a tire valve which deflates the tires when a pressure less than the instantaneous tire pressure but greater than a minimum value is applied to the valve. Pressure on rotary seals which connect the tires to the system is relieved when the system is not operating.

  • Patent number: 4660590
Abstract: An improved inflation pressure regulator is disclosed of the type which automatically releases pressure above a predetermined maximum during inflation of a vehicular tire. The regulator, which is particularly suitable for use with low capacity tires and for use with high capacity air pumps, comprises a generally tubular housing adapted to be coupled between a vehicular tire and a source of compressed air. A substantially friction-free flexing seal arrangement within the housing couples the air source to an exhaust aperture and bypasses the tire when the pressure within the tire reaches a predetermined level. The use of a flexing seal substantially reduces seal wear and thus reduces seal leaks and minimizes variations in the regulator rating over the life of the regulator.

  • Patent number: 4246930
Abstract: A relief valve, particularly adapted for use on racing car tires, which pops open to relieve at a set pressure and then reseats at a pressure slightly lower than the opening pressure. The valve includes a diaphragm (28) a diaphragm retaining plate (36) which has a resilient sealing element (39) molded or otherwise attached to it, a valve seat attached to the center of the diaphragm, and a compression spring (26) acting on the diaphragm to bias the valve seat against the resilient sealing element. When the valve pops open against the spring force, the area above the diaphragm is exposed to a venting pressure, via a port formed through the valve seat and through the diaphragm, which is higher than atmospheric and thus adds to the spring force, resulting in a resealing pressure which is slightly less than the opening pressure.

  • Patent number: 4120614
Abstract: A hand bicycle pump of generally cylindrical configuration essentially comprising a pump body adapted to be reciprocated on a pump rod. An air circulation chamber communicates at one end through the compression piston with the compression chamber in the pump body and at the other end via a check valve with a connector adapted to couple temporarily the pump to an inflation valve of an inflatable body, e.g. a tire. The desired inflation pressure is preselected by rotating a sleeve, accessible from outside the pump, having an index, relative graduations along a slot in the pump body. The sleeve varies the spring force exerted against one end of a piston control member, the other end of which is subjected to the pressure inside the inflatable body so that once the desired pressure is reach the control member is displaced axially to bring the compression chamber into communication with the atmosphere.
