Floor Or Frame Patents (Class 137/354)
  • Patent number: 10059380
Abstract: In certain situations, it is desirable to mount an engine accessory to a frame member of the vehicle. Such frame member might be a convenient structural element proximate a desired location for the engine accessory. Because the frame member is often hollow, conventional mounting techniques may crush it. A system and method for attaching first and second brackets to the frame member are disclosed. The bracket systems may have piloting, locating, and anti-rotation features to provide secure attachment points. A vehicle accessory is mounted at the distal ends of the first and second brackets.

  • Patent number: 4353430
Abstract: In an arrangement for fitting a pedal assembly to a vehicle, at least one pedal is movably mounted on a bracket attached to a foot control panel which is connectable as a unit to the lower forward portion of a compartment space in the vehicle so that a base plate of the foot control panel covers either of two openings in the cowl panel on each side of the longitudinal center line of the vehicle. The same vehicle body can then be used for left-hand as well as right-hand drive vehicles, and mounting and service of the pedal assembly is easier.

Abstract: A hydraulic oil reservoir for a mobile vehicle having the oil container of the reservoir formed in a beam of a horizontally disposed frame of the mobile vehicle. A vent assembly for the oil reservoir is comprised of a porous plug vent interconnected through a pair of hoses to two spaced openings in the top wall of the oil container. The interconnection of the two openings in the top wall of the reservoir enables the reservoir to be vented adequately while reducing the likelihood of oil expulsion through the vent when the vehicle is operated on a hillside terrain.

  • Patent number: 4217925
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a locking mechanism for closing the gas line in an automobile, said locking mechanism comprising a tumbler lock engaged to a rotary valve adapted for insertion into a fuel line. The valve itself comprises a rectangular body having a transverse circular opening formed therein across which the fuel flow communicates. Installed in the transverse opening is a rotary planar vane being rotatable to a first position uncovering the inlet and outlet ports of the circular opening and conformed on its exterior edges to the opening periphery, said vane having stand-offs on the bottom thereof for providing a communicating path for the gasoline and being rotatable to a second position closing off the communicating path. In the last position the thickness of the vane blocks the passage of gasoline thus precluding unauthorized use of the automobile. It is contemplated that the foregoing lock be installed in the floor surface of the automobile, the valve extending therefrom being placed into the fuel line.

Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed for use in conjunction with an antitheft locking fuel line shutoff valve for automotive vehicles which prevents efforts at bypassing or tampering with the valve in attempts to circumvent the locking fuel line shutoff valve. The antitamper arrangement includes a spring-biased fuel line blocking plug disposed within the fuel line and positioned just behind the vehicle fuel pump inlet stem, the blocking plug being restrained from blocking engagement with the fuel pump by means of a flexible cable connected to a rod integral with the blocking plug, the cable passing down the length of the fuel line and anchored at the locking fuel line shutoff valve.

  • Patent number: 4140150
Abstract: A drinking water supply and conditioner for vehicles comprises a tank mounted in the luggage compartment of the vehicle and connected with hot and cold water heat exchangers attached to the vehicle engine. Each of the heat exchangers has two distinct vessels therein separated by a heat transmitting wall. The inner vessel of the hot water heat exchanger is connected with a hose carrying hot engine cooling fluid therein, such as a heater or radiator hose, and the inner vessel of the cold water heat exchanger is connected with an air conditioning refrigerant line. A faucet is mounted in the passenger area of the vehicle and includes a valve for controlling liquid flow therethrough. Tubing interconnects the tank with each of the heat exchangers and the faucet, and a pump is connected therewith, whereby during vehicle operation, both cold and hot drinking water are supplied to the faucet under pressure for dispensing therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4131127
Abstract: Disclosed is a valve for selectively preventing fluid flow along a flow line. A plunger of a locking mechanism moves a valve stem between a first position, in which the valve is in an open configuration, and a second position in which the valve stem presses a resilient diaphragm into sealing engagement with an annular seat circumscribing an outlet port resulting in a closed configuration for the valve. The valve stem may be moved from the second position to the first position only by unlocking the locking mechanism. In the embodiment shown, the valve is interposed along a fuel flow line between a fuel supply and an engine in a motor vehicle. Inlet and outlet flow line receiving means are integrated in a plastic housing, which includes two components riveted together.
