Patent number: 4624106Abstract: A pressure-compensating hydraulic system is disclosed for preventing unauthorized use of an associated material handling implement. The system includes a variable displacement hydraulic fluid pump, and a load-sensing pressure-compensator for varying the output of the pump responsively to the pressurized fluid demands of the system. In order to prevent unauthorized use of the associated implement, the invention contemplates the provision of an override mechanism for negating the demand-responsive characteristics of the system. In this manner, a movable member of the implement, such as one of its stabilizers or its loader bucket, is positioned so as to immobilize the implement, with the member thus maintained in this position since the system will not respond to the demand for pressurized fluid to move the member from this immobilizing condition.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1984Date of Patent: November 25, 1986Assignee: J. Patent number: 4614203Abstract: A rotary plug valve capable of being locked in selected positions includes a body and a valve member rotatable in the body between valve open and closed positions. Transverse bores are formed in the body and valve member for reception of a locking pin having a first enlarged head on a reduced shank and a second enlarged head capable of receiving the reduced end of the shank and of being locked thereto. The bore in the body is of a size to receive the heads, the central portion of the bore in the valve body being of a size less than the diameter of the heads but sufficient to receive the shank of the locking pin so that once locked, the pin may not be removed and the valve body and valve member may not be rotated relatively to one another. The pin may be unlocked by a key axially inserted into the shank through one of the heads.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1984Date of Patent: September 30, 1986Assignee: Gas Energy, Inc.Inventor: Onofrio N. Patent number: 4483366Abstract: A locking valve having a housing and a valve element movable with respect to the housing to selectively occlude a passageway through the housing. Stops on the outside of the housing normally limit movement of the valve element to a first range of positions encompassing a normal closed position and a normal open position. An interior locking mechanism concealed within the housing is operative to arrest the valve upon its movement to one of such positions. The interior locking mechanism is also operative to arrest the valve element upon its movement to a position outside of the normal or first range of positions. Thus, the interior locking mechanism cannot be defeated by removing the exterior stops and moving the valve element beyond its normal range of positions. The interior locking mechanism prevents removal of the valve element, and the interior locking mechanism is protected from forcing or picking.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1982Date of Patent: November 20, 1984Inventor: Leonard Labita

Patent number: 4465092Abstract: A lockable valve having features which impede unauthorized removal of the valve from a conduit to which the valve is connected. The housing of the valve has a passageway. A valve element is movably mounted to the housing for occluding the passageway. A structure operatively associated with the valve element impedes disengagement of the valve from the conduit when the valve element is in a first position. Preferably, the housing of the valve is attachable to the conduit by a fitting which is movably mounted to the housing and such fitting is accessible only through the passageway of the housing when the valve is mounted to a conduit. When the valve element occludes the passageway, it blocks access to the fitting and hence serves as part of the disengagement-impeding structure. The valve may include lugs for connecting the fitting to the housing for movement therewith when valve element is in a second position.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1980Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Inventor: Steven Vitale

Patent number: 4429711Abstract: In the preferred and illustrated embodiment, a multivalve manifold control and interlock system is set forth. The multivalve manifold comprises three valves arranged within a valve body, wherein valve stems with optional handles are located above the valve body to be gripped and rotated. The valve body encloses three ball or plug valves. They are switched by 90.degree. rotation. Each stem supports a circular disk, and the three stems are equipped with three circular disks which interlock. Certain arcuate notches are cut in the circular disks. The arrangement of the notches limits the sequence in which the valves are opened and closed. Moreover, opening and closing is constrained to the sequence required for safe operation of the multivalve manifold. Further, a lock bar is incorporated, and is profiled to fit with the valve stems for locking.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1982Date of Patent: February 7, 1984Assignee: Anderson, Greenwood & Co.Inventor: Marion L. A fixed locking member is mountable on the valve body. A movable locking member is mounted on the handle for rotation therewith and for relative movement outwardly and inwardly of the valve body and fixed locking member. Interfitting cooperating members on the fixed locking member and the movable locking member are engaged at a desired position of the valve member upon inward movement of the movable locking member relative to the fixed locking member to prevent rotation of the handle and are disengaged to permit rotation of the handle upon outward movement of the movable locking member relative to the fixed locking member.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1975Date of Patent: June 1, 1976Assignee: ACF Industries, IncorporatedInventor: Michael R.
